Our school has always had a policy that students don't check out until the second half of first grade. I am going to see what I can do to change that policy. I've sent reports to them and had discussions about specific students who have "lost" books at this point and have implemented some of my supports earlier than usual - I want less time to lapse between "lost books" and implementing supports.
