Passage - Mood

Pages 304 and 305: Then her last breath sighed out of her, her chest falling for the final time. A few seconds later, she disappeared, her physical body waking up in the real world. Leaving Michael deep within the VirtNet, in a place almost no one knew about, in the middle of a Path that seemingly had no end to its length - or to its horrors. And he was alone. He was completely alone.

I think that this passage explains the mood of the book because when I was reading this book I felt that it seemed like I was always anxious to see what terrible or bad thing that would happen next. Sometimes I was even a little sacred. This book felt more like a thriller-science fiction book. There was a lot of action and adventure in this book as well which balanced out some of the other things in the mood. There were also parts were Michael, the main character, seemed to lose his sanity during the book when he was all alone. If you gather all of these traits from the book, you can say that this book makes me and other readers feel scared/anxious at some parts were Michael is losing his sanity. At other times we feel adventurous when Sarah, Michael, and Bryson are in combat with enemies in their grand adventure.

Within a couple of inches. By the time he reached it, Michael felt as almost he lost his mind. There wasn't a single coherent thought left, just a desperate desire to get to that wall of blue, no matter what awaited him.
