The oldest seer in the desert says to the camel driver: “The secret is here in the present. If you pay attention to the present, you can improve upon it. And, if you improve on the present, what comes later will also be better.” (pg. 95). I appreciate the wisdom in this quote. It says to me, what’s important is happening today, not someday. I’m often worrying about the future. This line from The Alchemist reminds me that the future is being created by me, and all of us, right now. The seer is referring to paying attention to omens. I also believe in omens. I believe some things in life are like signs, letting us know if we are heading in a good or bad direction.

If someone isn’t what others want them to be, the others become angry. Everyone seems to have a clear idea of how other people should lead their lives, but none about his or her own

i liked the quote cause alot of people can be quick to judge but i think the quote puts a new perspective on other people in a better way

The alchemist is talking to the boy about the future journey they will have together and giving him hope and confidence, and he says "Wherever your heart is, there you will find your treasure" (pg:116). I agree and appreciate this quote because I think this is exactly what the boy needed to hear to continue his journey, and this I think we could resonate this in our own lives especially being in high school finally thinking about our futures this quote alone can get our mind on a certain track or just shift our focus from fooling around to actually trying to succeed and do what you truly love with your life.

My favorite quote is from the alchemist, "They were seeking the treasure of their Personal Legend, without wanting actually to live out the Personal Legend." (pg. 125), it is a lot like the quote, "it's not about the destination, it's about the journey." And this quote resonates with me because I feel like everyone can end up in the same place or come to the same terms at one point or another but it's really unique what different people go through to live out their personal legend. Because when the boy asked what everyone else did, the alchemist said "They were looking only for gold." And that makes me think that those people were really only focused on the finish line rather than the journey as a whole.

My favorite quote from the book is "there is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure." I think what this quote is trying to get at is that in pursuit of our dreams we often refrain from giving them our all as we are scared of failing. I agree with this sense of fear to an extent, knowing that if one does end up failing they will be left with nothing. However, if you truly give everything you have into your dream, as the book states, "all the universe conspires in helping you achieve it." Taking what we can from the book and these quotes, we must follow our Personal Legend, our dream, to the best of our capabilities as we have much support, even from the universe. This quote resonates with me because my dream of playing soccer professionally has become hard as the competition around me gets better, but through the ups and downs I know to keep going, and keep going without the fear of failure.

the quote that i picked is "when a person really desires something all the universe conspires to help them". the quote emphasizes that when a person has a clear and unwavering desirer there focus sharpens. This intense focus attracts opportunities, people events that algin with their purpose. Its usually about out a strong energy into the world. which in turn attracts the right circumcenters. it also taps into a idea of manifesting believing that if you are truly committed to something that universe offers guidance and signs and even help you discover opportunities you might have not notices before.

On page 149, the boy starts talking to aspects of the world (the sun in this case) to try and convince them to turn him into the wind (which won't give much context, but that's the situation he's in). Nearing the end of his journey here, with death looming over his shoulder, he tells the sun that he knows the Soul of the World because they'd talked with each other all throughout this journey. From this, the boy talks about the greatest problem the Soul of the World had, which was the way how "up until now, only the minerals and vegetables understand that all things are one. That there's no need for iron to be the same as copper, or copper the same as gold. Each performs its own exact function as a unique being, and everything would be a symphony of peace if the hand that wrote all this had stopped on the fifth day of creation." I picked this quote because I thought it was a good culmination of what the boy's learned throughout the story. Seeing him learn so many things from the Soul of the World and getting to see his character development was nice. This quote resonates with me because I feel that there's been a lot of greed throughout the world where people try to overexpand their Personal Legends while also changing the legends of others. Recognizing that everything has it's purpose, or rather, its own "Personal Legend" is valuable. As the quote says, the world would be much more peaceful if everyone valued this thought.

The alchemist says to the boy: "...Remember that where-ever your heart is, there you will find your treasure." (Page 117). I chose this quote because to me it speaks about choosing your own path and trusting yourself when it comes to your own journeys. I connected to it since I often have troubles deciding what I want to do in the future, thinking about all these paths I could take without thinking about what I think would actually be best for me. It's why I chose this quote, because its following your own destiny based on your feelings and letting your heart guide you, because at the end of your journey it'll be worth it.

my favorite quote was on page 120, the alchemist says to Santiago: "you must understand that love never keeps a man from pursuing his personal legend. if he abandons that pursuit, its because it wasn't true love." i think this quote is important because Santiago needed to hear it for him to complete his personal legend. it made him realize that if he backs off now, he will regret it for the res of his life and he will have to carry that until he dies. the alchemist saying this made Santiago realize that his personal legend is what he needs to accomplish if he wants a life with no regrets.

The quote that really stuck with me from The Alchemist was, "When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better, too." What I understood from this quote is that pushing yourself to your limits, will cause a lot of progression and improvement in your life. Keeping your life the same without any changes or struggles will only cause your life to stay stuck in one certain time and can stop you from reaching your true potential in life. The reason this quote resonates with me is because I believe that staying in the "comfort zone" can stop you from achieving a lot or cause no positive changes to happen. I try and put myself in positions where I can grow and become better than the person I am at the moment. I do think it's important to do things your comfortable with, but at the end of the day, you are your biggest supporter and are the only person that can push yourself into becoming better.

It's easy to get distracted by life's challenges or other people's expectations, but this reminds me that fulfilling my Personal Legend is my true purpose. One of my favorite quotes from the book that stood out to me was, "It's the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting." Which is actually found in the earlier pages of the book (pg.1-5) because it was said by the author. From my understanding, what this quote means is that everyone has the ability to find a purpose or goal in life for themselves. The quote emphasizes the importance of hope and the motivating power of pursuing dreams even if they are unsure the dream will even be achievable. I agree with this context because having the uncertainty that the dream is even possible to accomplish is what makes the journey so much more interesting and valuable. And from this, even if you don't get to accomplish your dream, you would still have learned many lessons that can still help you in your life. This quote resonates with me because having the dream of pursuing my future dream career which is mechanical engineering (in aerospace) is what pushes me in school and motivates me to complete my education. Without setting a goal for myself in the future would lead me on being confused or even stressed for my future which is why I agree with the quote when it says that dreams are what makes life interesting because I can relate to it.

One of the quotes in the book The Alchemist I liked was: “Wherever your heart is, that is where you'll find your treasure.” Said by the Alchemist page 128, the reason why I like this quote is because it’s unique to the individual reading it. Personally, I feel like this quote is saying that whatever you, as a person, are truly passionate about is where you'll find your own purpose and fulfillment. Throughout time in our world, people tend to chase success or wealth, leaving little to no room for what makes them happy. But in reality, the real "treasure" is in our hearts; in other words, our treasure is in what we love, whether it’s an object, a person, a place, time, or even a feeling. This connects to Santiago’s journey because he too learns that the treasure he should pursue isn’t just gold it’s about following his heart and truly embracing the journey. This outlook on life has made me believe that in life, if and when we listen to our hearts and actively pursue what we truly care about, and not just what society deems worthy of our time, we will always end up finding what we were meant for, just like Santiago.
