Mrs. Jay is an elementary principal in a K-12 school. Her school recently decided to align the K-12 curriculum to the Common Core State Standards. Mrs. Jay's school has also been trying to incorporate technology and web-based tools in a more useful way. She realized that the majority of her teachers were unfamiliar with the CCSS, so she was going to set up a professional development day to explain how to use the standards and implement them in their classrooms. Mrs. Jay decided to take on the task by herself so teachers would not have to take a day of absence just to learn about CCSS. Mrs. Jay felt obligated to incorporate technology into her presentation, as well. Jay ended up collaborating with other colleagues via SKYPE and video conferencing. She felt like that played a crucial role in her presentation. For technology usage, she used Survey Monkey, LiveBinder, and Prezi to help with her presentation. She felt like those web-based tools were better at organizing and keeping her teachers engaged in the explanation and implementation of the CCSS. Overall, Mrs. Jay used web-based tools to collaborate with colleagues on top of implementing them into her presentation to help organize and explain a new learning expectations. She felt pretty satisfied with her work and continued to improve and encourage her teachers to utilize web-based tools in their lessons as well.

An additional instructional strategy that stuck out to me was utilizing more web-based tools in my lessons. One, in particular, is Google. Google is very broad, but you can do so much with it. I'm looking more at the calendars, Google Docs/Sheets/Slides/etc. You can collaborate with anyone who has a Google account. You can create a Google Classroom for your students and assign them work to complete, have it turned into you, and even have it automatically graded if the assignment or test allows. Using web-based tools, makes the creativity of teachers grow. It also helps encourage others to use it, because it is so user friendly. Not to mention a lot of things gets automatically saved via web-based tools, so you don't have to worry about not saving something or loosing your work.
