         <description><![CDATA[<div>Parental Aspirations - if parents are not encouraging education the child may not try as hard or strive to do as well in education compared to other children who’s parents have high aspirations and value education eg. Chinese students<br><br>Loud environment can lead to lack of concentration on studying, so they are less likely to remember what they have learnt as they cannot practice.<br><br>Supportive/unsupportive parents &amp; their influence&nbsp;<br><br>lack of nutritious diet means that students can’t concentrate as well in class as they don’t have the proper nutrition<br><br>poor living conditions so can become unwell and then don’t go to school<br><br>lack of resources<br>Relationship with parents/carers and siblings etc&nbsp;<br><br>Parent knowledge - If a student’s parents have a lack of knowledge and education, they will not be able to get as much support as their peers<br><br>restricted code, Basil Bernstein-unable to understand them so when writing they will get a lower grade.<br><br>elaborate code, Basil Bernstein- pupils, who are typically middle and upper class and southern, have a larger range of vocabulary and speak in the way essays and exam questions are wrote. therefore benefiting them in education. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>labelling<br>when given a negative label, students may think they’re defined by that label and won’t want to achieve better in school<br><br>self fulfilling prophecy- can change a student's belief and perception of themselves<br><br>ideal pupil- if they do not fit this model they're less likely to receive good labels from teachers, affecting achievement, more likely be given to a middle class pupil than a working class<br><br>school subcultures- working class boys form an anti school subculture&nbsp;where they respect the school’s values and become involved in antisocial behaviour within the school <br><br>Cultural deprivation (working class feel alienated within school)<br><br>Setting and streaming - being put in a set can limit their learning as they are only taught lower level things<br><br>teacher bias - teachers will favour pupils who r middle class, white and girls therefore people in lower classes will be forgotten about and will fall behind in education&nbsp;<br><br>hidden curriculum&nbsp;<br>usually favours the middle class while working class children are made to believe that they can’t go up in the hierarchy</div>]]></description>
