I took away that we already do a lot of service learning at our school, but that we can pronounce it more and integrate it more into subjects rather than have it extra curricular

I used to think that to make service learning work in the upper school, a coordinator was needed. I now think it would still be helpful, but there are ways to embed it into learning by starting small and with the willing.

The Kotter research model is a very helpful instrument in guiding us through the process of developing a Service learning programme

I used to think commiting to service as action takes a lot of preparation and work before asking the students to do it. Now I think that giving students more voice and choice takes that preparation to them.

Building SL

I used to think putting SL in action is innovation and quick action. Now I see how much work you did behind the scenes. The difference is, that we are new in IBCP and I am basically alone with SL with small group of students. I will reflect on this.

I used to think service learning needs to be a big complex, now I think it doesn't need to however it needs to mobilize all stakeholders for it to be impactful irrespective of complexity

Now I think that it makes more sense to discuss and plan for change management with the guiding coalition.

Service Learning Programme

I used to think that I was alone in thinking that Service Learning Programme was hard to connect with younger ages such as 11-15 year olds or primary ages. Now I think that we are many schools trying to create a fluid, connected and meaningful Service Learning programme which feeds into the same principles of CAS and Community Engagement.
