Our first date ...

On our first date Curtis picked me up at my house. He barley had any money from just returning from vacation but he was determined to take me out. Curtis had a free movie ticket and scrambled up a few dollars for a second one and we went and saw a movie together. This was the first time we met in person, and ever since then we have not spent more than a day or two away from each other.

Our type of love

Due to us both being in some very toxic relationships before each other we both know we require a lot of reassurance. His love langue is words, so I make sure to tell him every day how much he means to me. My love language is receiving gifts, so every week Curtis surprises me with flowers on a random day. Adapting to each others love languages at first was difficult but in the long run really helps our relationship become stronger.

Like any relationship there are times we may get irritated with eachother or outside factors of life may bring us down, but in those situations we practice communication skills. We both grew up around toxic marriages and refuse to bring our future kids up that way. We do not yell, scream, or name call when we disagree, we simply talk things out and take a small break from eachother if need be.

My favorite thing about Curtis is how understanding he is. I am a lot to handle at times, and sometimes it seems like it may be easier to throw in the towel and give up all together. Curtis has never once turned his back on me and always lets me know he is in it for the long haul, through the good and bad. (His looks are a plus too)

Everyone says after a few months you grow out of the honey moon phase, but honestly I hope we never do. We keep our relationship alive and exciting by planning each other date nights (even if they are just grabbing take-out and watching movies) and we also love planning trips with one another.

From the day I met Curtis I knew 100% he was the one I was going to spend forever with. In the next few years we plan on getting married and both eventually want to start a family. I am currently in school working on my BSN and he is looking into joining a union for electrical work. We both want to make sure we are stable in our careers before expanding our family by anymore !

When you first think of moving in with your partner you think it's going to be like a movie. You think you will wake up to breakfast in bed and everything will be perfect. Well, I'm here to tell you, you are wrong. Living with your partner is arguing over whose turn it is to do dishes, it's listening to them snore all night and moving to the couch so you can atleast get some sleep, its them eating the whole box of poptarts you both JUST BOUGHT before you could even have one. It isn't perfect, but getting to make dinner together, lay in their arms at night, and just do everyday life with them makes all the small inconveniences totally worth it!
