In Boston Massachusetts, artists are making beautiful poetry that can only be seen in the rain! Artists put a waterproof sealant over a stencil, and write a simple poem, painting, motivational quote, etc. During the day the writing is invisible. It is only when water is applied to it that you will be able to see the writing. Unfortunately, these are not permanent and will fade within 6-8 weeks.

The sealant is made with biodegradable water repellent spray. This allows people walking by to see a motivational message on a rainy day. This is a way that artists in Boston thought would help people have a bit of fun on the rainy days. Some citizens said that they even forgot what the sun feels like. An artist said, "We do this to give the people a reason to smile, for whatever is happening." This is a non-profit event that Mass Poetry is working on and plan to continue.

This trend is fairly new. It was originally started in April 2015 as a tribute to National Poetry Month. Michael Ansara and Julie Barros, the founders of Mass Poetry, began going into the streets and putting motivational poetry onto the sidewalks. It quickly became a famous trend, with other artists going and making their own poetry and motivational writings. Now there are 4 new additions made by the Mass Poetry Foundation. In 2013, an artist, Nathan Sharratt, used hidden stencils in Atlanta and just last year Tanvi Misra began doing this in Seattle.
