Project MKUltra was a human experimentation program designed and undertaken by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to develop procedures and identify drugs that could be used during interrogations to weaken individuals and force confessions through brainwashing and psychological torture.

i think this was important because it hurt alot of people and destroyed them forever testing on them.

This affects us citizens because we have alot of adicts who use the drugs they did.

COINTELPRO

The FBI has used covert operations against domestic political groups since its inception; however, covert operations under the official COINTELPRO label took place between 1956 and 1971. However, the official chronology of the program is the subject of the debate. According to a senate investigation, "If COINTELPRO had been a short-lived aberration, the thorny problems of motivation, techniques, and control presented might be safely relegated to history. However, COINTELPRO existed for years on an 'ad hoc basis before the formal programs were instituted, and more significantly, COINTELPRO-type activities may continue today under the rubric of 'investigation."^[13] Many of the tactics used in COINTELPRO are alleged to have seen continued use, including discrediting targets through psychological warfare; smearing individuals and groups using forged documents and by planting false reports in the media; harassment; wrongful imprisonment illegal violence and assassination

i think this was important because it targeted organisations but called for unnecessary killing/ assassinations.

This affects the us citizens because its killing people that could be your family or you know and hurt big movement leaders.

Overthrowing governments

In addition, the U.S. has interfered in the national elections of countries, including Italy in 1948, the Philippines in 1953, Japan in the 1950s and 1960s Lebanon in 1950s and Russia in 1996. According to one study, the U.S. performed at least 81 overt and covert known interventions in foreign elections from 1946 to 2000.

This is important because it changed the cold war for the us especially in cuba.

This affects us citizens by putting them in danger for war and possible multiple wars.

Iran–Contra-affair

Iran–Contra, was a political scandal in the United States that centered around the revelation that senior officials in the Ronald Reagan administration secretly facilitated the sale of arms to Iran from 1981 to 1986. As Iran was subject to an arms embargo at the time of the scandal, the sale of arms was deemed illegal.This was important becuase it involved the president. It affects our us citizens becuase in can put our president in danger.

1990s drug trafficking

n 1990, a failed CIA anti-drug operation in Venezuela resulted in at least a ton of cocaine being smuggled into the United States and sold on the streets. The incident, which was first made public in 1993, was part of a plan to assist an undercover agent to gain the confidence of a Colombian drug cartel. This was important because in entered the us and people got a hold of it and started using bc of it.

This involves the us citizens becuase a lot of people get killed by people who are on drugs.
