There are many ways to be a volunteer. In the United Kingdom and in the United States of America, a gap year is a period of time when students take a break from school to travel, volunteer, study abroad, work as interns, or work. They often choose to teach, to build houses and to cure or take care of children. Many volunteers are specifically trained in the areas they work like medicine, education or emergency rescue. But there are easier ways to benefit to other people. For example, getting involved in a national or a local project such as “Les Restos du Coeur” doesn’t require to move away from home or to have specific skills. On a CV, it can be useful to have experience in altruistic activities. It is renowned for skill development. It promotes goodness. It shows human quality of life. They mainly are in Africa (Somalia, Sudan, Eritrea, etc.) and in Asia.Hunger is due to:- Poverty- Natural disasters (such as drought, flood)- Wars- Diseases (like malaria, Ebola, AIDS).The problem is that these people don’t get enough minerals and vitamins. It concerns old people, pregnant women and young children. Malnourished mothers give birth to malnourished babies, creating a cycle that continues for generations. If children are not cured before two years of life, the damage done to their physical growth is irreversible.It is less expensive to prevent malnutrition than to treat malnourished children. It is called the Horn of Africa with Somalia, Eritrea and Djibouti. Its population has recently passed a hundred million. 80% of the population lives on agriculture. The conditions have been very difficult for 2 years because of drought and wars in the surrounding countries. Ethiopia hosts more than 650,000 refugees. As a result, in 2016, 10,200,000 people in Ethiopia needed emergency food assistance.
