The book, When My Name Was Keoko, is a book about a sister and brother in Korea while the Japanese are in control. Their uncle is a resistance worker. The overall book is about how the family endures the challenges of living under Japanese rule, the uncle gone into hiding, and even a presumably dead son.

My rating:2
The reason I chose this rating is because the book overall, was funny at points but boring and confusing. The parts that are supposed to be surprises are expected by the reader usually

Some trends I saw while Linda Sue wrote was that she used formal dialogue. An example of this is, ¨Brother, I know it was wrong of me..." (Park, 1999) Also In My Name was Keoko, ¨You know my name, not my story" And In A Single Shard," Tree-ear! Have you hungered well today
And Lastly with The Kite Fighters, ¨...Elder brother...¨
In A Single Shard some dialogue is "Tree-ear! Have you hungered well today." These quotes prove that Linda Sue uses formal tone in her books, some more formal than others but she still writes consistently threw out her currere.
