How is it used in the film industry?
Quantitative data is useful in the film industry when it comes to box office numbers. This is useful as you can see if the film was successful or not. As well as this you can see how much it cost to produce and how much it gained back or lost.

Give examples of some quantitative data?
An example of quantitative data from Deadpool is the budget, which was $58 million. The domestic total gross was $363,070,709, with the worldwide total gross being $783,112,979.

What are the strengths and weaknesses of quantitative data?

The age range for this film is 15-30 as the rating for this film is 15. The reason it would appeal to these ages is because the film is quite comedic and silly so it wouldn't really appeal to a maturer audience. 

It is mainly aimed at heterosexuals as the film only has heterosexual couples despite it having characters which come across as homosexuals (Negasonic Warhead).

The overall audience, may have interests such as other Marvel films, Comics and conventions ect as they are all quite similar and have the same target audience. 

This film would be located in English peaking countries (UK and US) as the main characters speak English themselves, although it can be worldwide. 

With this in mind, the ethnicity for this film would be American as the characters in the film are American themselves.  

The socio economic of Deadpool is people in category C2 and D of the demographic scale as the films portrayed in the film are labourers/ taxi drivers ect so they may be able to relate. 

The VALS of this film is believers as the audience have steady incomes and the audience are quite youthful and spontaneous. 

Overall, Deadpool has a mainstream target audience as it's a Marvel film and Marvel is mainstream, with a massive target audience across the world.

The red indicates that there is some sort of danger, which implies the film is an action film. It also links in with blood, which again links back to the genre.  As well as this, you also associate love with the colour, which makes you think there is a possible love story or 'damsel in distress'. 

Black links in with the idea of evil and death, which makes you think that 'Deadpool' is the 'baddie' or villain as his outfits main colours are black and red which you associate death and blood with. This is because of all the weapons, which include guns and swords. There are connotations of super heroes on the poster, shown from the superhero costume, again indicating that the man is the heroic and brave one.

Crude humour and dirty jokes may be one as its comedic. Another may be the girls, and the violence may and fighting scenes as they all stereotypical things that would appeal to men. 

In the opening of the trailer there is an attractive woman which may have been featured to grab males attention. She is seen with the main character (Deadpool) which hints that there is a romantic relationship between the two. The trailer then goes on to show an action filled scene of fighting and guns which could appeal to males as it builds tension and creates suspense, keeping the viewer entertained. Another 'masculine' scene shown in the trailer is a pub scene which is a typical place for men to go out with their friends so it something they could relate to.
