I was recruited to run cross country and track for Salem College in Winston-Salem, NC. I studied Exercise Science and Biology at Salem for 4 years getting a B.S. in both. 

I am also a certified personal trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). I plan on eventually going back to school to get my masters in Exercise Physiology. I currently live in Peoria, Az with my girlfriend and our french bulldog Auggie. While he is a very energetic dog he is very cuddly... when he wants to be or wants something like a treat. 

I am an active runner and I am currently training for my first marathon in December in Buckeye, Az. I often run 5k's, 10k's , and half marathons. I also enjoy reading anything that is health/wellness/ or running related. 

I also enjoy traveling, especially to California to visit my family. I am a coffee lover and can drink it any time of day, any kind of weather. I am looking forward to the trials and triumphs of becoming a "real teacher" in the sense of becoming certified. My parents were both educators. My mom was an instructional aid and my dad was a principal for over 25 years before he retired. My dad still is in education but as a substitute. I see how happy the education system makes my dad, and I cannot wait to have several number of years in education under my belt and being able to reflect on how I got there. 

As a teacher, I appreciate all my teachers even more. All they go through, meetings, exams, IEP's, 504 plans, parent conferences, football boys that are best friends in one class, etc. While this is a learning curve for me I am excited to continue teaching and teaching my kids how to become good functioning members of society and not just how to take and pass standardized exams. ]]> 2017-09-02 20:00:17 UTC https://padlet.com/nat2148208/mowcho2y4khd/wish/184370749
