In my opinion is nice to have a good relationship outside from the training plan. Try to meet the human being that is behind the client and understand him from there as a person too. A good harmony can improve the effort into training.

An incentive you can give to a client as a personal trainer could be setting them challenging yet attainable short term goals I.E lose 1lb per week in order to keep them on track with their training and nutrition in order to keep reaching their goals and thus keeping them progressing.

the incentive I would give to clients would be constant because when we are in the gym I will not only put them through their programme but I would also work out with them so the challenge is constantly there for them.

you don't need to be best friends with your client, but you should be friendly, patient and understanding. talking to them about everyday life and their interests is part of building a professional relationship. you should make your client feel comfortable enough to trust you. when communicating with your client you should be inspirational in what you project to them. you want to boost there morale and show them that you as committed as they are at achieving their fitness goals. always be there when they feel they cannt go on. its not al about the gym, it is emotional too.
