Local authorities are calling for a state of disaster to be declared. Officials have called this storm "one of the worst weather storms in the history of our country". There have been mudslides that have trapped people under buildings and more floods are expected. The rescue effort is being hampered by poor visibility as a helicopter continues to take people to safety. Community volunteers have been wading through the muddy river, while taking turns hacking away at branches. Roads that are essential to Durban are very flooded. Communications have also been disrupted with two major networks reporting more than 900 of their cell phone towers are down. The government is encouraging people to stay clear of the flooding and to get to higher ground.

Ghana's inflation has gotten so bad it has risen 19.4%! It hasn't been this bad since August of 2009. Foods prices have gone up a lot like oil/fats (28.2%), vegetables (23.8%), fish/other seafood (23.7%), fruits and nuts (22.1%), and more. In one month, the food inflation rose from 17.4% in February to 22.4% in March 2022. Non-food inflation isn't as bad (still bad though) at a rate of 17.0% increase. Transport is at 27.6% and housing is at 21.4%! So, yeah Ghana is really struggling. To try to solve this, the government is reducing its budget a lot and is having spending cuts. They will also prop up the local currency (creating artificial demand for the currency), and reduce the salaries of appointees (I think government officials) by 20-30%! Hopefully, the situation in Ghana improves and gets better soon!
