The children need to retell the story using the appropriate voice choice - retelling the story in an exciting way. The children will imitate and learn the story off by heart, then innovate the story by changing the characters.</p><p><strong>To support your child at home please can you ...<br></strong></p><p>- Help your child learn the story off by heart, using the Explain Everything link/ the video posted on Teams.&nbsp;</p><p><br/></p><p>- Write out small parts of the story, checking their punctuation focusing on capital letters, finger spaces and full stops.</p><p><br/></p><p>-Ensure your child forms their letters correctly and holds their pencil with the 'perfect pencil grip'. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Thorughout the Summer term we will be reading the Tales of Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter. <br><br>Alongside this, we will be reading a range of non fiction texts linked to the Tales of Peter Rabbit. This will give the children the background knowledge needed to understand the text. <br><br><strong>To support your child at home please can you ...</strong><br><br>- You could watch the films and programs surrounding Beatrix Potter's tale. However, explain to them this is a modern version and has been inspired by a very old book written by Beatrix Potter. <br><br>- Visit a local farm or Pets at Home to visit real life animals from the stories. Talk about what they are like in real life. <br><br>- Use 'Epic' to read books surrounding Peter Rabbit . This website has lots of brilliant online books and even has a quiz at the end.          <description><![CDATA[<div>This term, we will be learning all about animals and humans. We will be teaching children the scientific skill of classification, grouping animals into mammals, amphibians, reptiles, birds and fish. Looking at the criteria for each of these and grouping accordingly. <br><br>Later in the term, we will be looking at what animals eat. Grouping them into carnivore, omnivore and herbivore. Focusing on how we can care for animals. <br><br><strong>To support your child at home please can you...</strong><br><br>- Look at the knowledge organiser (shown above), support your child to learn the different groups of animals and the classification criteria for each. <br><br>- Discuss animals together, can they identify the different parts of the animals, their diet, what they need to survive etc. <br><br>- Visit Pets at Home, talk about what people need to do in order to care for them.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Throughout Summer we will be learning about time. The children will learn how to order and use time related language. As well as learning how to read clocks to o'clock and half past. We will also be exploring unit of measure related to time: seconds, minutes, hours, days, months and years. Exploring how long each of these last and what we would measure things in. <br><br>Later in the term, we will be learning about 3D shapes. Identifying what a 3D shape is and comparing this to 2D. Learning the names of 3D shapes and being able to describe them using language such as edge, side, face and vertices. We will also be recapping our addition, subtraction, money, measure and shape learning. <br><br>As a school we have moved away from Mathletics, to further support the children at home we are going to be using Maths Tutor. All children have been sent home logins and we will be setting activities on this each week. Below is a link to the website.          <description><![CDATA[<p>Throughout the term the children will continue to work in their phonics or Guided Reading groups. All children will continue to either learn or recap Set 1, Set 2 and Set 3 sounds, applying these to spell and read words.</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>During the week beginning Monday 10th June</strong>, the children will be doing their phonics Screening check. This is a statutory test, to show how well your child can apply the phonics knowledge taught. This will include reading 40, both real and nonsense words. This could be made into a game ' how many words can you read in 1 minute'</p><p><br/></p><p>- Encourage children to 'fred talk' and orally blend words for example... c &nbsp; a&nbsp; &nbsp;t - cat.</p><p><br/></p><p>- Regularly use the speed sounds chart at the front of the phonics book to rehearse the sounds.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Throughout the term, we will be learning all about the United Kingdom and what each country within it is like. The children will identify a human and physical feature for each country, looking at their flags and producing a fact file all about a chosen UK country. They will also learn the names of the seven continents and five oceans, learning where each is located. <br><br>Later in the term, we will focus on the geographical skill of being able to read and follow a map. <br><br><strong>To support your child at home please can you...<br><br></strong>- Go to library and take out an Atlas, explore this together. Can you find particular countries? Where is the UK on a world map? Can you spot any of the 5 oceans? <br><br>- Look at and create maps together. Create a map of your local area, could you add your house, local shops, the school etc?<br><br>- Plot your route to school on a map - perhaps google maps.          <description><![CDATA[<p>Together, school and home form a partnership to help your child grow and develop to their fullest potential.</p><p><br></p><p>Please do not hesitate to get in contact with us if you have any concerns, questions or you would like any guidance on ways to support your child.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>The best way to do this is via TEAMs. All children should have a login and password and should have access to the class teams page. Check this on a daily basis as we will use the class page to communicate any key information.</p><p><br></p><p>Your child's class teacher is available on TEAMs from 8am until 4:30pm. If you send messages after this time, they will be responded to the following day. Please also note that during the day, the teachers will be teaching and may not be able to respond. Any urgent information (e.g. about collection) should go through the school office.</p><p><br></p><p>The parent newsletter is sent out, via email, on Mondays. Please read this every week as it often contains key dates and details that you need.</p><p><br></p><p>We often have physical letters that need to be sent home with the children so please make it part of your routine to check their bags at the end of the school day for any of these.</p><p><br></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Please remember that we are a healthy school and packed lunches sent into school should reflect this. The children should have water in their water bottles not squash or juice.</p><p><br/></p><p>Your child's attendance at school is very important and every child should be aiming for this to be 100%. Equally, being prompt to school is key as we start learning at 8:30am each day. Please check term dates on the school website to avoid any holiday/term-time clashes and carefully consider whether your child needs to be missing school for whatever reason.</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Year 1 PE days are: </strong></p><p>Italy and Spain: Mondays and Wednesdays </p><p>Poland: Tuesdays and Wednesdays </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>PSHE: This term, the children will be looking at Relationships. We will be talking about families, friendships, people who help us and the relationship we have with ourselves. The children will identify how they can be a better friend to each-other and the qualities of a good friend. Who in our community can help and the importance of this. They will also identify their own strengths and qualities. </p><p><br/></p><p>RE: This term the children will learn about forgiveness, times they have been forgiven or forgiven others and the importance of this. </p><p><br/></p><p>They will go on to study Judaism, learning about key festivals such as Rosh Hashanah and Shabbat. They will also learn about the jewish place of worship and scared texts. </p><p><br/></p><p><strong>To support your child at home please can you ... </strong></p><ul><li><p>Talk about your family and create a family tree. </p></li><li><p>Talk about how they could be a good friend and what type of friend they would like to be. </p></li><li><p>What to do if you upset your friend or your friend upsets you? </p></li><li><p>Encourage your child to approach some friends  - perhaps by joining a club or playing with different children at playtime. </p></li><li><p>Please discuss that different people have different beliefs and this is something to be celebrated. Spend time talking about different cultures and religions and how they may relate to your own</p></li><li><p>Visit the library and research Judaism.
