This is the Lorax on the evening before hurricane Irma hit. Although people in high political positions continue to deny it, this hurricane was exacerbated in size and magnitude due to climate change. This hurricane season has been one of the most vicious in years, from Harvey, to Irma, to Jose. These drastic and negative environmental changes have affected people throughout society, causing debris in the road, tearing down roofs, and damaging cars. Without influential people making a change, such as President Trump pulling out of the Paris Climate Agreement, people in society now have to take action for future generations to come.

This is the Lorax juxtaposed with a prevalent form of point-source pollution: an exhaust pipe. Every day as we drive to school, work, and to be with friends, we are placing a heavier burden on the environment. Excess carbon dioxide fumes entering the environment makes an ultimately negative addition to the Carbon Cycle and causes harmful environmental impacts such as the acidification of our oceans. This has already shown to be changing the world's environment in a human-caused event. For example, the Great Barrier Reef has started to degrade and even die due to ocean acidification and excess Carbon in the environment. If we are to start using more energy efficient and battery powered vehicles, we will be able to reduce the pollution and carbon dioxide fumes entering the environment and diminish the harmful impacts that have already begun taking place.

This is the Lorax right next to the map on a cruise ship. Although cruise ships may be fun and a great way to enjoy a vacation, the Lorax realized in this instance that cruises are very bad for the environment and most definitely the oceans themselves. Many cruises proceed to take all of their human, food, and fuel waste and simply dump it in the ocean because it is the most convenient way to dispose of it. According to an article posted by the Los Angeles Times on December 1, 2016, Princess Cruise Lines was charged $40 million for illegal cruise dumping. This dumping of waste into the world's oceans can cause habitat destruction, which is the number one cause of extinction of species. If this cruise dumping is terminated, the oceans will be much clearer, healthier, and all kinds of species will be able to thrive with their maintained habitats.

This is the Lorax next to two reusable, BPA free water bottles. One-time use water bottles are extremely harmful to the environment, including the fact that many parts of the bottle cannot be recycled. The water bottles then are left to be polluted in places such as the ocean. These plastic bottles contribute to the Pacific Garbage Patch, which is clogging the seas and making it difficult for marine animals to survive. Besides the fact that one-time use water bottles make up a big portion of the pollution in the environment, the plastic that one-time use bottles are made with such as Dasani and Aquafina also pose various human health risks. This is because these bottles are created with harmful chemicals such as bisphenol-A which have been proven to cause fatal diseases such as cancer. This is why the Lorax advocates for everyone using reusable water bottles. This is me and my brother after we just purchased our reusable water bottles and will no longer be purchasing zephyrhills water bottles .
