Iago comments on Othello and Desdemona's love reunion and it is compared to harmonious music. It shows Iago's intention to destroy that harmony. The imagery of "set down the pegs" also means detuning an instrument and symbolises how love can be undone and destroyed by manipulation.

He gives a hate-fueled description of Othellos character which according to me is due to the blinded hate that has washed over him

'I love the gentle Desdemona, I would not my unhoused free condition put into circumspection and confine for the sea's worth.' Othello

This shows how he does truly love Desdemona, despite all Iago's claims to the contrary, and just how deep his infatuation with her is.

'I must be found. My parts, my title and my perfect soul shall manifest me rightly,' Othello

This sharply contrasts with the picture of Othello Iago had spent so much of Act 1 Scene 1 building up, showing he does not feel the need to boast, and that he is comfortable to let Brabantio's anger burn itself out and if Brabantio does want to confront him, he won't make it easy for him.

'By Janus, I think no.' Iago

Janus is a two-faced Roman god, hinting at Iago's true nature. As well as this, he controls both beginnings and endings, which hints at all of the control Iago has over the events of the story so far.

'Run from the guardage to the sooty bosom of such a thing as thou, to fear, not to delight?' Brabantio

Shows how Brabantio views Othello: not as a person, a thing, someone who is in Venice and his daughter's heart only to cause terror. As well as that, it shows how he views and treats his daughter; she is someone to be protected and innocent, a bird to be caged and sing but not free, and she couldn't possible want Othello of her own volition.

Brabantio here is in shock as to how Desdemona could've ran away from him and gotten away from his tight grip that he has on her. This shows how in society at that time, daughters were seen as property of their fathers, and how they were constantly controlled, depicting a patriarchal society, where daughters were only seen as valuable assets. They were not free to do as they wanted because they were controlled by their fathers, leading to a lack of freedom.

'O heaven' - can suggest that that he has put all his hope on heavenly forces to keep Desdemona with him, and now that she has 'escaped', it seems as if this is against heaven and God. This could also suggest how this acts as an appeal to the ultimate authority, God, asking for divine witness or intervention to stop this catastrophe. The escape of his daughter represents a terrifying level of female agency that threatens the established norms of his world.

"It must not be If Cassio do remain He Hath a daily beauty in his life That makes me ugly

The "Daily beauty" dosen't mean physical beauty but Cassios honourable character, good reputation and natural charm. Iago feels that Cassio's goodness highlights Iago's lack of virtue, making him look "ugly" by comparison morally and socically. The line reveals Iagos deep jealousy and insecurity, Cassios achievements and respected status remind him of his own faults. Therefore Cassio doesn't need to be guilty of anything his existence threatens Iago

Iago here admits everything he has plotted comes down to this single night, "makes me" meaning this will secure his success, power, and revenege if his plans work. "Fordoes me quite" means it will completely distroy him if anything goes wrong. The line shows Iago's self-awareness that hes not just a mindless villain but calculating his actions risking everyhting. This line also foreshadows what is to happen later in the play

Othello enters the room and sees Desdemona's beauty one more time which again makes him feel badly about his decision and complicates his choice of murdering Desdemona. This statement emphasises the Irony as it talks about Desdemona's beauty while Othello is getting ready to murder the person he loves.

Even in the face of death, Desdemona is still loyal to Othello and attempts to protect him from the consequences of his own actions. She does this by lying to Emelia explaining her death was self induced and "nobody" murdered her. This paradoxically provides Othello with the proof of Desdemona's loyalty he was searching for from everyone but Desdemona herself. Shakesprere does this to enhance the purity and perfection Desdemona embodies which intensifies the tragedy of her fate, driving the plot and audience engagement.
