The city of Medellín is the capital of the department of Antioquia. It is located in a very green mountainous area. It extends along a valley surrounded by mountains and is crossed by a small river. Its geographical location means that it benefits from an enviable microclimate. It is known as "the city of eternal spring" because of the pleasant spring weather all year round.

The views of the city that can be obtained from various viewpoints are very beautiful. The image of the city stretching between mountains along the valley with its skyscrapers and its humbler areas is really photogenic.

Its climate, its tree-lined avenues, its restaurants, its cafes, its shopping malls and chic boutiques and the atmosphere of security that permeates large areas of the city, especially in El Poblado, the friendly character of its people, and its nightlife that is one of the best in the country make it very, very attractive to settle down.

On the other hand it is impossible to get bored in this city as there is a good selection of things to see and do in Medellin. It is also a good base camp from which to make some excursions in the area such as Santa Fe de Antioquia, Guatapé and El Peñol, beautiful natural areas such as Río Claro, and other small towns such as Jericó and Jardín.

Pueblito Paisa and Nutibara Hill
It is a recreation of a Paisa village located on the Nutibara hill from where there are good views of the city.
The best time to go is at 4:00 p.m. You can walk through its ecological trails and fall in love with the picturesque magic of a traditional Antioquian town.

Guatapé and Piedra del Peñol
Escape from metropolitan Medellín and visit Guatapé (the town of baseboards), Guatapé is one of the most colorful towns in Antioquia and one of the places near Medellín that you can visit in a single day.

This is the only town in Antioquia that stands out for having all the houses adorned with the typical zócalos, sculptures or works of art that are fixed on the lower part of the facades and display all kinds of traditional crafts and iconic places.

In addition, this is one of the municipalities of Antioquia to visit and climb to the top of the Piedra del Peñón, a huge rock 220 meters high, which in its interior houses more than 742 steps that culminate in an incredible viewpoint that gives a great view of the Peñol reservoir.
Keep in mind that the entrance to the Piedra del Peñol for Colombians and foreigners has an approximate price of $20,000 COP, the hours are from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., they are open from Sunday to Sunday and although the climb seems difficult, you can stop to rest as many times as you want.

When you reach the top of the rock you will find several stores and a viewpoint that will allow you to have an incredible panoramic view of the reservoir.

Comuna 13
Comuna 13 is currently the most visited place in all of Medellin. The best way to do this tour is at 1:00 p.m. and start eating mango ice cream with salt and lemon, then start the tour in the neighborhood with more graffiti in all Medellin. (Know the history behind many of these graffiti), then visit the escalators of Comuna 13, also visit an art gallery in Comuna 13, learn about the street art of Comuna 13, also go to a viewpoint where you can see the whole city of Medellin, and finally visit Independencia 2: this is another place full of graffiti and history.

Santa Fe de Antioquia
The municipality of Santa Fe de Antioquia is located 1 hour and a half from Medellin, and is considered by many historians as the cradle of the Paisa culture and the mother city of the Antioquian department.
It is a one and a half day tour.
The tour of the historic center should begin in the central square of the municipality, exactly in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, a nineteenth-century building of unparalleled beauty.

In the surroundings of the square and the main church there are several cafes to chat, spend the afternoon and try the traditional cuisine of Santa Fe.

One of the best things to do in Santa Fe de Antioquia is to take advantage of your walk through the center to enjoy the typical sweets of the region, such as cortado de leche and tamarind sweets.

Visiting the Juan del Corral Museum is one of the best places to visit in Santa Fe de Antioquia, since there you can learn about the history of the city through valuable pre-Columbian pieces that are part of the most precious collections in the country.

Five kilometers from the city center is the Puente de Occidente, one of the most important engineering works in Colombia that passes over the Cauca River and in which one of the designers of the Brooklyn Bridge in New York participated.

In addition, very close to the bridge they offer some activities such as paragliding over the Tonusco Valley, rafting on the Cauca River, visits to vineyards and bicycle tours.

El Jardin Antioquia
When you ask yourself what to do in Jardín Antioquia, one of the first answers will be to walk through its beautiful and colorful streets, where you will find buildings with great cultural value, smiling people and many cafes.

So, when you decide to visit Jardín, be sure to start your tour in the main park, visit the Basílica Menor de la Inmaculada Concepción and the Casa Museo Clara Rojas Peláez.

La Cueva del Esplendor is located on the outskirts of the town of Jardín (Antioquia), and is one of the most beautiful and emblematic places of this beautiful municipality.

If you are passionate about trekking and you are wondering what to do in Jardín, Antioquia, you should know that the route of the 5 waterfalls and the Cueva de los Guácharos, is the best plan you will find in this beautiful town.

To get to the Cueva de los Guácharos and the 5 waterfalls (actually, you can visit up to 11 waterfalls), you must take a guided tour that will take you by Jeep from the town to the trailhead where this 10 kilometer trail begins (medium-high demand).

On this trail you will have the opportunity to see the great water wealth of Jardín, Antioquia, and you will pass the pine forest and the cloud forest before arriving at Salto del Ángel, the first waterfall, which is approximately 70 meters high.

I really liked Bogota, this activity makes me want to get to know it and learn more about its culture and the beautiful places that there are to know also all the activities that can be developed there.

RIOHACHA IN PLACE. BY: Jairianna Puello

Riohacha is the capital of the department of La Guajira, it is considered the desert land of the Caribbean, the department of La Guajira offers a multitude of incomparable images and colors. Its diversity of landscapes makes it a magical destination where the thousand-year-old tradition of the Wayúus is preserved, a pre-Columbian people that never yielded to Spanish colonization.
Riohacha offers its visitors various places to visit such as:
- Flamingo sanctuary: Before reaching Riohacha, this sanctuary really deserves a stop, during your trip to La Guajira. It is located 20 kilometers from Riohacha, on the Troncal del Caribe highway, which first passes through Tayrona and Palomino. The Flamingo Sanctuary is a 7,682-hectare reserve with mosaics of lagoons, dry forests, and swamps.
You can do activities such as: photography, visit the turtle lake, and typical food restaurants.
-Riohacha is the city where you will make a stop, before your expedition in the heart of the Guajira desert. It is a pleasant stop for a day, where you can stroll along the “Paseo de la Marina” along the beach and do some shopping acquiring typical Wayúu handicrafts. You can also go to admire the sunset on the pier and rest in the shade of the large palm trees that line the beach.
What else to do? A good option is to see the fishermen at work, take a walk through the José Prudencia Padilla Park or visit the Cathedral of Our Lady of Remedies.
- In Cabo de la Vela: you will find great beaches with orange sand and warm, transparent waters. The lunar landscapes where the rock is devoured by the sea are sublime.
On the other hand, Cabo de la Vela is the ideal place (one of the best in the world!) to practice kitesurfing and windsurfing, thanks to its favorable winds.
Did you know? Cabo de la Vela is above all a spiritual place for the Wayúu. It is here, at the foot of the Pilón de Azúcar, an incredible rocky viewpoint with views of the desert and the sea, where the souls of the deceased rest.
- Hen tip :Second essential step during your stay in La Guajira: Punta Gallinas! Its bay by the sea is a place full of spiritual energies, perhaps because it is the northernmost point of the South American continent. It is for us the best place in La Guajira to admire a sunset, with your feet in the water. It is a quiet and wonderful moment.
Where to ride the dunes? For us, the most beautiful part of Punta Gallinas continues to be the Taroa Dunes. The tallest is 60 meters high and looks like a wall facing the sea. This show is enchanting, one really has the impression that the desert is thrown into the sea.
Fancy a boat trip? Bahía Hondita is the place to go. Here a piece of sea has been lost, surrounded by rocks and desert. This water formation has created a mangrove ecosystem and many birds can be admired.
- Macuira national natural park: If you have 2 more days in Guajira, we advise you to go into the desert to discover this magnificent national park. This semi-desert is an extraordinary place. Microclimates form oases like tropical forests. It is a destination that is not yet offered to mass tourism, which makes it totally authentic, far from the beaten track.
It is worth visiting La Serranía de Macuira, which owes its name to the ancestors of the Wayúus: the Makui. It is above all a refuge for the Wayuu community, little influenced by the outside world and living from local agriculture. The forest guards are all very welcoming natives.
you must visit the pulua hill and the waterfall of the jet.
Its visitors are recommended to wear fresh and comfortable clothes since the climate of this city is warm, temperatures range between 30 to 35 degrees during the day and at night the temperature tends to drop between 25 and 28 degrees.

Today I’m going to talk about five different places you can visit in my city Medellin. Normally you can go for something to eat ; a mall can be good for that I usually go to the Amsterdam mall that place is full of different and beautiful restaurants and you can wear something casual but sometimes it cat be a little bit cold so I take a sweater with me. Other place that you can visit is the stadium you can easily go there by the metro and you can do different types of exercises there and the most amazing thing is that it is free. I always wear some shorts and a hat because I normally go in the morning. On weekends I prefer to go to the parque lleras wich is a good place to party and take a good drink and of course you have to go with you’re best outfit but if you don’t like to party as much as I do you can always go to the cinema with you’re partner or friends. Here in Medellin we have a lot of cinemas but my favorite is in the Tesoro mall because of the confortable Chairs , you can wear some joggers pants and a nice hoddie . In conclusion you can also go to palmas avenue for a couple of beers with you’re friends there you will find a nice view, it is the best way to chill and I recommend to wear something warm because it can get cold sometimes
