Introduction

What is the music we listen to without emotions or feelings connected to it?
Transmission in my own words takes an emotional form through many genres of music. It holds a specific power that does wonders not only for the artist(s) but for the listener(s) as well. I can say that I highly agree with the argument Ratliff is trying to make regarding transmission. He argues that it is an act of emotions that portray moods within a song whether it be a happy or sad one. There is always a story behind the artist and there music. He basically explains that without emotions, transmission cannot happen. "Emotional attachment" as Ratliff explains should be the foundation that connects the artist/music and the listener.
In essence, transmission is a good musical element that connects us to every musical genre out their. Ratliff does a great job at pointing out transmission in every song that he reviews in chapter 4 of the book in detail.

This musical example inside of Ratliff's playlist exemplifies the musical element of transmission by its feeling of happiness in the "summer." This feel good emotion allows for the listener to connect quite quickly with the artist. The artist(s) mention the name "Jasmine" as if to signify a love found in the summertime followed by the expression of that love to that person."
