I buddhismen bliver man også døbt lige som kristendommen.

I buddhismen hældes helligt vand over barnets hoved af en ældre mand med en konkylie, og han klipper derpå håret af barnet. Imens synger munken en sang om, hvad Buddha har lavet.

I kristendommen bruger præsterne ofte sin hånd til at hælde vand på barnets hoved
