Looking back at the last 100 years, the way students are taught has changed drastically; we would not even recognize the classroom from a century ago. One of the reasons for this huge change is technology. Technology is changing the world around us and also the way teachers teach. Teachers can no longer teach with just books, lecture, and dry erase boards. Current students do not the world with out technology. School needs to resemble the world that they live in, so current classrooms should provide learning access to technology. This could include a teacher incorporating a smart-board or allowing their students to perform their own research. The possibilities are endless! With this change, in education it will make past jobs for the teacher easier to perform, but also some new stresses.

As seen above technology has had a huge impact on teaching, but the same impact on learning as well. Technology has not only changed the way the students learn but the way we as humans learn. It is just highlighted the most in the education system since the purpose is learning. Technology opens a verity of doors for the learner. Today, a learner has access to so many more resources all at their fingertips, which means more knowledge. Science has proven that their are so many different types of learns and that each individual has a unique learning process. In the classroom before technology, there were 25 different learners in a classroom but with only one possible outcome. This process is not going to fit each learner. With technology in the classroom, it allows each students learning process to be more individualized because it is not as constricted and there are many more options. This leads to having multiple learners with multiple outcomes that is unique to each learner's learning style. This makes learning much more effective.

While there are many benefits of technology, there are many things that it has taken away from the the education system. Before technology, school was a key place for social interactions to take place. Social interactions build us who we are as a person. Technology creates an atmosphere that limits communication between teachers and other students. Personal devices, such as smartphones and laptops, of the students also create a distraction from learning in the class room. There can also be a negative effect of technology on students mental health which would also effect relationships and the mood of the classroom.
