Nickelodeon, as they were called at the time, was the first space created really devoted to movie viewing. Popular between the time of 1905 to 1915, they exhibited short films with an average duration of 5 to 10 minutes. Being a great novelty, the intention was really dazzling with the possibility of displaying these recorded footage and not with the story or the story itself. Gradually over the years, the narratives were being created (always very simple) to continue entertaining the audience.

Tickets were very cheap for the population at that time, costing 5 cents a dollar. So they were easily popularized among the working and low-income classes, providing easily accessible entertainment.
George Méliès: The father of special effects:

Considered by many the creator of the cinematic spectacle, Méliès was very important for the history of the cinema. The first to use the feature of cinema as a source for fantasy, opening the door to what we know today as the genre of fiction. Not only he, but as several illusionists of the time saw an opportunity to expand the illusion by the cinema: They used features like disappearance, increase and diminution of the size of the objects.

Compared to the special effects used by the industry today this may seem very little, but for that time where there was no technological support for the creation, was remarkable. The filmmaker was also the first to paint the films in black and white so that they were colored, in order to have this effect, it was necessary to paint each painting of the film manually.

Cinema as we know it today has been perfecting and evolving over the centuries, but it is up to Brother Louis and Auguste Lumière to create the cinematograph and that would be the forerunner of the camcorders as we know it today and modern cinema. The cinematograph used several negatives of punched photos that were moved by a crank and thus gave movement the images, through this device it was possible to create the first films to be exhibited for small audiences. the cinematograph gave name to the new art that was beginning to emerge, the cinema that enchanted the world with its magic.
