The war started sometime before Nazi Germany finished occupying Greece in October of 1944. This war was fought between the Greek Government and the army of Greece, the DSE. The Greek Army fought for communism. The war started because the Greek Army refused to disband their army. In February of 1945 the communist were defeated and they didn't vote in the "plebiscite", because of this things went back to normal for about a while.

In 1946 another war was started by the communist, and because of this British pulled out of Greece deciding they weren't able to support Greece anymore with what they have, then America stepped in to help. In 1947 the communist had acquired a government, the battle had then changed from the people versus the government to a government versus another government, and it was because of this America need to give its full support to Greece.

At the end of the war Greece had with the help of Great Britain at the start of the war and the US at the end of the war managed to get the communist to surrender, and drove most of them out of Greece. This resulted in a bit of a divide in the Greek people, not everyone of the communist left, but the fight with them was quelled. There were multiple people with different ideologies from the rest.

Because the side they aided ended up winning, also because of the Marshall plan as it was, wanting to help countries not succumb to the hands of communism the USA's goals were a success in this battle. Not only did they step in when Britain couldn't fight anymore, they helped Greece out of their predicament. Like a tag team battle, 3 governments versus 1.
