The flocking of fish is a type of behavior. Flocking of fish is known as a school and is mainly done to protect themselves from predators, and to to help them in daily things like sleeping and eating. The way that they scare off the predators is by traveling in a concentrated group to give the illusion that they are a much bigger threat than they really are. The way that forming a school helps them eat and sleep is because flocking together allows them to rest and eat peacefully without being fearful of predators attacking.

The behavior of flocking together has become an adaption because a school of fish has helped the fish survive, which increases chances of survival. When a trait or behavior of a species increases chances of survival, then it becomes an adaption. This behavior definitely helps the fish survive especially from the predators.

This is a visual of the aquatic behavior named schooling, as you can see, they do look like a threat in a big concentrated group like this than they would individually.

In my opinion I think social behavior is very important because without social behavior, you would not develop these behaviors that give you high chances of survival. Not only that, the social behavior can save your life, in this example, the fish protect one another from the predators in the swarm of fish that they have, and without social behavior you would not have that protection.
