Title of Artwork: Black History Month Project

I made a mosaic type painting of a mountain landscape painting inspired by Alma Thomas. My goal was to paint something inspired by artist Alma Thomas. This was my goal because she has such a unique art style that seemed fun to recreate. I used acrylic paints and a canvas, and paint brushes. I started by mapping out where i wanted the colors, and painted the mountains first. I added the sun next, and the grass after that. Finally, I did the sunset.

Why? I really like this project. I think that it was really fun and calming to make. I really liked trying out different combinations of patterns and where each pattern goes. My favorite part of this work is the floors and cabinets. I think the color from the cut out image and the black and white patterns is a nice contrast. I started with a sketch and layout where I wanted all of my patterns. Then, I marked out a space for the cutout.
