Annie Dillard and her friends were in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania in 1952, being chased by a man because they hit his car with an ice ball. The chase was heart racing as the man caught up with them. He was mad because they hit his car. The chase was for pride, if the kids got away, they could have pride and tell all their friends that they got away from the man. If the man caught the kids, he could have pride in himself for catching the kids. Although the man does catch them, Dillard is happy because all the man says when he catches up with them is, "you stupid kids!"
"

As kids who wouldn't think that throwing snowballs at cars isn't fun. But they didn't realize that the man in the car would get out and chase them. The man in the car would chase them through the small neighborhood that they live in and finally catch up to Annie and one of her friends. After the man caught up with them he told them how they were stupid kids and the usual adult redundancy.

Annie Dillard was a girl born and raised in pennsylvania. She was very competitive in American Football & Baseball. During the Winter, they would sit on the side of a road which made them hidden a bit when it snowed. One day, herself & two friends were throwing snowball at passing cars and the driver got out which rarely happened. They all split up but Annie followed a friend that was in special need which led to the driver picking them two. The driver eventually caught them and let them go. The reason why he let them go is very unclear which gives us tons of scenereos. Annie was thrilled that he chased her as it was something new and something to remember.

Annie Dillard, who is a famous author, wrote a short story of how her childhood was like and how she misbehaved. These events happened in 1952. She told a story of her 7 year old self in Pittsburgh throwing a ball of ice at a car. A man in the car chases them throughout the city. She explains that it is the most exciting thing to happen in her childhood. She thinks it is because the man caught them and only yelled "stupid kids" instead of being even more rude or giving a long speech.
