I like that the author acknowledged Russia’s consequences if they were to invade Ukraine. It kind of makes the US seem more serious about handling this situation in a civil manner. It also demonstrates that this isn’t just some mission for US troops to partake in as a way to make the US military seem strong or powerful. I think it makes the intention of preparing troops to deploy a little more clear. It’s interesting to see Russia’s reaction to this series of events, they have to be careful in order to not threaten any nations but also they want to invade Ukraine so they are in turn threatening every European country especially those in NATO due to the US’s affiliation. The US and Russia already have an interesting history with Trump’s presidency and potential voting fraud but that’s besides te point now that Biden is in office. It does make this a little scarier being that Trump and Putin were friends.
