MODHHS has a Continuous Learning Culture.  It is imperative to the agency’s growth to have regular Continuous Quality Improvement Practices that will track and adjust the Fidelity of the Trauma Informed MiTeam Enhanced Case Practice.  MODHHS team members at all levels are expected to be open to feedback and perspective of all stakeholders within the agency.
2. MODHHS has culture of positive support; free from non-constructive criticism.  There is an ongoing environment of safety:  safety to speak up with concerns or questions, safety to fail, and safety to heal from this sometimes almost unbearable role that we play in the child welfare system.  MODHHS practices a level of responsibility for tracking and adjusting tools/interventions to assist with staff’s emotional safety to ensure not only productive outcomes a work, but also to the worker’s personal well-being.  (Vital Smarts Crucial Accountability is great strategy for this.)
3. Secondary trauma maintenance is practiced consistently on all levels through development of self- care and reflection during one-on-ones with supervision, group activities including surveys and trainings on strategies to lessen the impact.  Our office has a debriefing team which can be utilized by request or required by leadership (for at least one meeting) given the situation.]]> 2022-03-09 18:48:37 UTC https://padlet.com/mecostaosceolamortar1/mnyri265xn42jh9k/wish/2086719346 A Few Principles that Provide a Solid Foundation: mecostaosceolamortar1 https://padlet.com/mecostaosceolamortar1/mnyri265xn42jh9k/wish/2086721631 Child welfare is stressful work, our agency vision identifies that removing children should be ‘the lesser of the two evils’ in regard to trauma.  Our decisions should be based upon minimizing the impact of trauma as much as possible.  This can be extremely complicated. 

Because we are making decisions that affect the constitutional right to parent our own children, we should be able to justify our decisions and welcome the teaming process.  We can hold each other accountable as a team, and we can band together to adsorb liability of these tough decisions.

From the Director on down, there needs to be consistent role modeling of accepting feedback, justifying decisions that affect our families, appropriate engagement including genuineness, transparency (as much as possible) and respect.
