Miss put us in groups of 3. In our group of 3 Miss gave us a Theme Mean girls to create a short scene. My role was a girl who was left out! I was the girl wanting to join in. We acted the scene and everyone clapped and gave feedback.

The feedback was that we worked well together but we need listen to each other more. The skills I got was working in a team!

Another activity was to kick a ball around - as movement!

Anther game was to learn names. The "letter of your name game" is when you join groups with names starting from A to E, F to M, P to . Then you learn each other's names and do lots of moving around the room getting to know the space. We also did Zig Zag Boing (that means you put your hands up, turn around again and start) Splat

We also did Musical chairs we took chairs away! We are class 13 students we are 11 girls and 2 boys.

I found some of this confusing but I liked it.

We did alot of games together! We did a monologue as a group we also did musical chairs.

We moved our legs and danced.

Drama with Shan.

Nearly the final rehearsal. Shan suggested that I use a prop - and a new position for performance: to sit on the floor, as if the character had just woken up.

I needed a blanket to put on the floor because the floor is too hard and cold for me.

Shan directed me : she says my character should lie and then wake up and go back to sleep after.

Not to just stand Finding a position means the character is not just saying something but doing something too.

I had to use my skills of working in a team, figuring who the character is and vocal acting skills.

We discussed which character we were going to be and I chose to be Tucker because the character is a bit angry and messed up and sometimes I feel like that,so  I can use my own feelings and facial expressions for the character.

Tucker is a boy in the script but in our production the character is a girl.

I feel I know my tutor group a bit better and that helps me to perform in a way I haven’t done before because I know the other actors around me.

I am getting better at focussing on what the other actors are doing. But I need to get better at learning my lines because I’m always reading the script and not doing without the script.

I learned that Tucker is fierce and annoyed at the moment.

I felt I did well with showing the anger and fear of the character in the schoolroom using my facial expressions and pushing my belly inwards to show how angry I was.

But I think maybe I was over-acting a little bit. Next time I should not do too much body movement and not too pushy with the voice.

We learned to face forward to the audience rather than with our backs to them. One of my classmates said that the audience would say “what a pretty back.” We were behind the actors playing the main characters like a chorus.

What I could improve on is learning my lines. When I was meant to talk, I couldn’t remember my lines. I was probably on the wrong page of the script but one of my classmates helped me turn to the right page.

I need to learn my lines by reading my part over and over again until they’re at the top of my brain and I remember them.

In this week’s Movement class we read out the script of “Replica” and acted out the lines and added movements.

For example, the scene when Sam is threatening Tucker with an axe in her hand. Tucker has to go down on her knees like she’s squatting while other people are in a circle around Sam, humming while Sam is using the axe.

I worked on this scene with Despina and Naima who is playing Sam.

What the challenge is:

Tucker has to show that she’s feeling “Oh my God I’m going to die.”  Tucker has no lines in the scene so I have to use body language. The audience can’t see her face because her face is down on the floor by her knees. She has her hands clasped together like she’s going to break her hands so the audience will see that she’s terrified. Her shoulders are shrinking.

I’m a happy person so it was pretty upsetting for me doing that scene, but once I got used to the character, I understood what the character had to do.

I found it pretty easy to do the movement but when I got up, my legs were tired and stressed for a bit.

What I can learn:

To warm my legs up first to make it easier to get down on my knees, for example by shaking my legs and gently bending my knees. I could do that backstage before I come on.

We need to move to protect our voice

During yesterdays lessons we were reading our script and doing our movements. During our seans. You saw what she did at the dig. She flipped out at me. She went mad. Magnets. Exactly we should do that. Did ?? What happened when you touched it? A what? I found it quiet relaxing.

I did some good blcoking on stage. I showed how my character Tucker felt when 'hypnotised'.

It was exciting being on stage like this.

I practiced a lot at home.

But for the performance a lot of my lines were cut. I only had a few words. I was told i was too slow but I really wanted a chance.

I learnt my lines and just wanted a chance to say them, even if it might be slower.
