         <description><![CDATA[<div>So, how do we find trends and patterns in Juvenile crime? Official crime rates are based on data reported by police to the FBI. There are two indexes for crime; violent and property. Homicide, rape, robbery and aggravated assault fall under violent crime. Burglary, larceny, theft, auto theft, and arson fall under property crime. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Overall arrest rates in the United States have steadily increased for the past three decades. Victim reports of overall crime indicate consistent decreases since the early 1970's. 17.7 percent of crimes since 1998 were Juvenile, about 82 percent were from adults. This means that overall crime has gone down while arrest rates went up.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In 1970, the percentage of arrests of juveniles for aggravated assault was 1.27%. In 1998, the percentage of arrests was 2.76%. The majority of crimes were committed by males under the age of 18 (83% for violent crimes). Of those males, predominately were black when compared to whites and females.   </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>A vast majority of arrests for young people, aged 10 to 17, are for nonindex crimes. <br><br>Index crimes are the eight crimes the FBI combines to produce its annual crime index. The index crimes are willful homicide, aggravated assault, fo rcible rape, robbery, burglary, larceny over $50, motor vehicle theft, and arson. <br><br>Nonindex crimes are all the crimes that aren't index crimes. For example: vandalism and fraud. </div>]]></description>
