I am Kıvanç Tunçel. I am a Turkish teacher. I love being involved with technology. Being interested in technology and integrating it into my lessons makes the learning process of both my students and me more efficient and enjoyable.
Thanks to eTwinning projects, we and our students interact with different cultures. I think that in this way, feelings of empathy develop. Additionally, it makes me very happy to collaborate with other teachers and learn new methods by taking part in these.

Once upon a time, a sultan contracts a disease that caused him to lose his voice. The best physicians in the country cannot find a cure, and the sultan's viziers make an announcement and look for someone who can find a cure for this disease. Keloğlan remembers that the tarhana soup made by his mother is healing and goes to the palace. He gives the sultan the soup he prepared and the sultan recovers immediately. The sultan thanks and gives a bowl of sherbet to Keloğlan. Realizing the magic of sherbet, Keloğlan discovers that he can now understand the language of animals.

On the way, a baby foal pulls out the thorn from its foot and the foal's mother thanks him and carries it on her back to her destination. He then notices an anthill and changes his way so as not to crush his nests. Keloğlan, who hears the sound of hungry birds, feeds their stomachs by giving them the corn grains in his mother's majesty.

However, he falls into a pit on his way back and finds himself in the land of bandits. The leader of the bandits gives Keloğlan a difficult task: he asks him to separate the sacks full of wheat, barley and rice. Keloğlan has a hard time with this task, but ants run to his aid and complete the whole work for him. When the thugs see that he has successfully completed his mission, he releases him.

Two birds come to get out of a cliff that is difficult to exit and carry Keloğlan safely up. Keloğlan, who continues to understand the language of the animals when he returns to his village, learns that they are also creatures and need help. Thanks to this adventure, he both helped animals and understood the importance of being sensitive to nature.

This tale emphasizes how valuable it is to do good and be sensitive to nature.

Once upon a time, in a small Anatolian village, there lived a poor woodcutter with his young daughter, Ayşe. Ayşe was known for her kind heart and always helped anyone in need, even when she had little herself. Her father, however, was grumpy and often scolded her for spending time helping others instead of doing chores.

One chilly autumn day, while Ayşe was gathering firewood in the forest, she found a tiny bird lying on the ground with a broken wing. The bird chirped weakly, its golden feathers shimmering in the sunlight. Feeling sorry for it, Ayşe picked it up gently and carried it home.

For weeks, she cared for the bird, feeding it crumbs and keeping it warm in a little nest she made. Slowly, the bird’s wing healed, and it grew strong enough to fly again. On the day it was ready to leave, the bird spoke to Ayşe.

"Kind-hearted Ayşe, you have saved my life. I am no ordinary bird but a magical creature. To thank you, I will grant you a gift. Go to the garden and plant the seeds I leave behind. You will see the wonder they bring."

The bird dropped three golden seeds into Ayşe’s hand and flew away. Ayşe rushed to the garden and planted the seeds in a sunny spot. The next morning, to her amazement, a tall orange tree had grown where the seeds were planted. Its branches were heavy with golden oranges that sparkled like the sun.

When Ayşe touched one of the oranges, she realized it wasn’t a regular fruit—it was made of solid gold! Overjoyed, she ran to tell her father. At first, the woodcutter didn’t believe her, but when he saw the golden oranges, his eyes filled with greed.

"We will be rich! We will sell the oranges and live like kings!" he exclaimed.

But when he tried to pluck an orange, the tree’s branches moved away from his hands. No matter how hard he tried, the oranges remained out of reach. Ayşe, however, could easily pick them.

"The tree only rewards kindness," the bird’s words echoed in her mind.

Ayşe convinced her father to sell one golden orange to buy food and warm clothes for the winter. Word of the magical tree spread quickly through the village, and soon, a rich and greedy neighbor came to see it.

The neighbor, a merchant who loved gold above all else, offered the woodcutter a fortune to buy the tree. But the tree refused to be moved. The merchant grew furious and tried to steal the golden oranges by force. As soon as he plucked one, it turned into a gray stone in his hand.

The merchant fled in anger, and the tree stood tall, protecting itself from greed and selfishness. Over time, Ayşe and her father learned to share the tree’s blessings with those in need. Ayşe would pick the golden oranges to help the sick, the poor, and the hungry.

One day, the magical bird returned and spoke again.

"Ayşe, your kindness has brought happiness to many. The tree will now bloom with golden oranges forever, ensuring that no one in your village goes hungry or cold."

And so, Ayşe and her father lived happily, surrounded by a community that grew closer through generosity and love. The magic orange tree stood as a symbol of kindness and selflessness, its golden fruit shining brightly in the heart of the village.

This tale highlights the themes of kindness, generosity, and the rewards of a good heart—common lessons in Turkish folklore.

The tale of Boğaç Han highlights universal values such as bravery, loyalty, family bonds, and leadership. At the same time, it reflects the lifestyle and social structure of the ancient Turks.

Once upon a time, there lived a clever and skillful tailor in a small town. The tailor was very successful in his job and was known as the smartest person in the town. However, one day, the sultan heard that the tailor was so smart and wanted to test his wisdom.

The sultan called the tailor to the palace and gave him three difficult tasks:

To build a bridge to the palace in one night, without using any materials.

To bring a bird that wrote a letter to the sultan in his own handwriting but also spoke.

To smuggle his most valuable treasure into the palace without anyone noticing.

The tailor solved these tasks cleverly:

In the first task, he surprised everyone by pointing to the moonlight in a river and saying, "Look, this is a natural bridge."

In the second task, he brought a parrot and taught it to repeat what was written.

In the third task, he presented his own love and goodwill as the "most valuable treasure."

The sultan was amazed by the tailor's intelligence and gave him a great reward. The tailor shares his prize with the poor people in the town and wins the people's love.

After the obtained a potion from an uncle, the empress became pregnant. But,before the child was born, he cried so much that the emperor promisese him various value things that did not stop him, but after the emperor promisese him that he would have youth withou age and life withou death, the child stoppes and born în silence. He was growing and day by day he became more and more beautiful, but when he turned fifteen, he asked his father and he sad that this was imposibile and the Prince has tho gave him what he promisese at birth, only he told him that he decide to go alone. The Prince went to the stable and took the stronges horse and he could find and set off. In the way he met a Gheonoaie and Scorpia, her sister. Later he found a forest full of creatures and în the middle of it there was a casele. For the horse to pase he opened his wings and flew ofer the forest untul they rea-ched the casele. There were several fairies and he maried the younger from there. The wife and his sisters in law warned him that he could just quietly found around not to enter the Valley of Wailing because if something serios happening, he will happening to him. In a while he went hunting and he found a rabbit and running after it he entered în the Valley of Wailing to catch it. Complains he came out of it because the rabbit only ran away because it was done to him miss his parents and went to the palace to see them. On the road it was difficult for him to muve because it geta old on day by day. Once there the palace was full of grunery and inside it was just a crate and în it was the death that was waiting for him for a long time and the Prince ended it. 

Prince Charming from the Tears is a fairy tale written by Mihai Eminescu, one of the most famous and beloved Romanian poets. This fairy tale is part of his vast collection of works and offers wisdom for adult readers, and for children it offers this foray into the wonderful world of stories. The fairy tale follows the adventures of Prince Charming, a handsome and fearless young man, who sets out in search of an enchanted princess, and in his search he fights hard against the forces of evil. This fairy tale includes traditional symbols and themes, such as the search for identity, the struggle between good and evil, but also the power of love.

In this fairy tale, it is about an empress who could not have children and, having reached an advanced age, she prays incessantly, with tears in her eyes, to the Mother of God, to give her a child. Her prayer is so strong that the Mother of God gives the empress a little boy, whom she calls "The Handsome Prince of Tears". The boy grows up, becomes a brave and handsome young man and decides to go to battle to help his father. In the expeditions he carries out to defeat the enemies, he meets another young emperor in a neighboring kingdom, who tells him about a Forest Witch, an evil being who torments people. The Handsome Prince decides to go in search of this evil being and meets Ileana, a very beautiful girl with whom he falls in love on the spot. He was greatly surprised when he found out that the beautiful Ileana is the daughter of the Forest Witch. The story continues with many adventures, and in the end, the young people get married and will live in joy and harmony, happy until old age.

Together with my students, we are participating in such an interesting project for the first time. I am sure that it will give children the opportunity to learn something new, get acquainted with new cultures, and express themselves.

Croatian literature is very rich and complex so I am looking forward to introduce it to the others.

For many years, Kraków was ruled by Prince Krak, beloved by his subjects. He was a wise and just ruler, which is why his death was a time of great mourning. The subjects looked at their future with fear, because the prince left no male heir, only an only daughter - Wanda. And it was she who was to take the throne after her father.

Everyone feared that the young princess would not be able to handle ruling the kingdom. However, it soon turned out that Wanda had inherited the best qualities from her father - she was a wise, just and good ruler, which quickly won the hearts of her subjects. And news of her beauty spread around the world.

They also reached Germany, where Prince Rydygier ruled. The Polish princess fascinated him so much that he decided to win her hand. He sent his envoys to Kraków, who were to ask Wanda for her hand in marriage on his behalf.

- If she does not want to accept my generous gifts and become my wife, force her to agree by threats - he told the envoys just before setting off.

The journey was long and far, but when the Germans saw Krakow, they could not stop admiring that such a magnificent city was hidden in such a wild country. And when they saw the princess the next day, they were even more delighted.

- Madam, we come in the name of the Grand Duke Rydygier, who fell in love with you after hearing about your beauty and wisdom - said the oldest of the envoys. - The prince sends you gifts and asks for your hand. Wanda looked at the valuables hidden in the chests they had brought, and then said:

- Thank your prince and tell him that I cannot accept his gifts and become his wife. My place is here, among my people and on my land. I will not leave it to live in a foreign land.

The German envoys were outraged at these words.

"You are impudent, madam!" said one of them. "If you do not agree willingly, your land will be drenched in blood! Prince Rydygier always gets what he wants, so think carefully!"

"There are other rights besides the law of the sword," replied Wanda and with her head held high, she left the chamber.

Frightened by the specter of invasion, the Kraków magnates tried to persuade Wanda to marry. However, the proud princess firmly declared that she would not marry a German and would not leave her country. At night, sitting in her chamber, she found a way to save her subjects from the war. She opened the window wide and for a moment looked at her beloved Kraków, deeply immersed in sleep.

And then she slipped out of the castle and ran straight to the Vistula. She stood on a steep bank, closed her eyes and jumped into the dark, turbulent water.

In the morning, the river washed up the princess's body. Her subjects, moved by her sacrifice, were plunged into mourning. The German envoys left Kraków in silence, and upon their return to Germany, they told their prince about Wanda's deed. Rydygier instantly regretted his stubbornness and threats and understood that love could neither be bought nor obtained by force. Wanda's subjects decided to commemorate her heroic deed and built a mound near Kraków, which they named after her.

Once upon a time... It was a sin to say more, but it was a good deed to say less... God's servants are more than mountains and stones...

It's called a fairy tale, you can enjoy it by listening to it...

Once upon a time, a woman had three sons. They were poor because her husband had just died. They say mountains can't resist preparations. After they ran out of money, they began to have difficulty making ends meet.

One day, the woman called her three children to her and said:

"You've grown up now, you've caught up," he said. You have to work and earn your living. There was no money or food left in the house. Go and find a job for yourself. I make a living by doing laundry at the neighbors' place... The three brothers put dry bread, cheese and some onions in their bags, said goodbye to their mother and set off.

They went a little further, they went a long way... They arrived at a water point around noon. They sat down to eat and rest.

Big brother said:

All three of us have food in our bags. It is not clear how far we will go. If we finish the food, maybe we will starve. So now let's eat the food from each other's bag. Leave the food in the other bags. Then we take turns eating them.

His other brothers accepted his offer. Thereupon he turned to his youngest brother and said:

"Let's eat what's in your bag first," he said, "you're small!"

The youngest brother said okay. He took the things out of his bag and put them out there. They all ate together.

After a while they got up and set off again. They went and went without stopping or resting... They traveled for hours...

One day, the youngest son said to his elder brother:

"I'm very hungry," he said. His knees were weak due to both hunger and fatigue. Please give me some bread and an onion so I can fill my stomach?

Oldest brother:

"We have very little food," he said. If we give it to you now, there will be nothing left for us later.

The little boy could not say anything against his brother's words. But he was very saddened by her answer. He continued walking without making a sound.

The boy slowly came out of the closet. In order to get to the door, you had to brush against the giants. He easily dodged two of them. But when he came to the third one, he could not find a place to pass. He definitely had to step on his feet.

He started to be afraid of what he would do if he woke up. However, the giants fell into such a deep sleep that they immediately stepped on the giant's feet and jumped. The giant moved his foot slightly, as if he was tickled, but he did not wake up. The boy took a deep breath and rushed out the door.

He started climbing the mountain behind the mansion... He reached the hill in the morning. He approached the tree at daybreak. If you look carefully. He saw the mouse lying there. He took off his jacket. Without frightening the animal, he snuggled up next to it and threw his jacket over it. He started to wait.

After waiting a while, he lifted his jacket, thinking that the mouse had died of lack of air anyway. The mouse lay motionless. While he was bending over and looking at the animal to see if it was alive or not, wouldn't something start to shine on the ground? When he looked carefully, he saw that the previous stones had turned into sparkling gold. He almost swallowed his little tongue with joy.

After the Arab servant prostrated himself and saluted the sultan:

I brought the ophthalmologist, our sultan! He said.

The Sultan said to the boy:

"Welcome, head physician," he said. You opened the eyes of the blind, right?

The boy, without interruption:

"Yes, my sultan," he replied. And I open it very quickly!

This time the sultan said:

All right, he said. My only daughter has not been able to see for years. There is no doctor that I haven't brought, there is no medicine that I haven't taken. We did not benefit from any of them. Conversely, his eyes closed more. That's why I put all of these doctors in prison. If you cannot open my daughter's eyes, you will go to prison; do you know?

Boy:

My Sultan, he said, would you please lie down on your bed?

The beautiful sultan was in excitement. He got into bed and lay down. Thereupon, the boy poured some powder from the jar into his palm and began to sprinkle it on the girl's eyes. After sprinkling a lot of dust into both of his eyes, he bent down and blew the dust. Afterwards:

Open your eyes, my sultan! he said.

As soon as the little sultan opened his eyes, he screamed and jumped up and hugged the boy's neck. Then he threw himself into the corridor and said: I see! I see! He started shouting and running towards his father's room.

Realizing that her eyes were opened when she entered his room screaming, the sultan immediately stood up and hugged his beloved daughter:

Get well soon, my child, he said. Let's be thankful that we have reached these days.

Then, calling a servant:

"Tell the doctor," he said, "I'm waiting for him."

They went and brought the boy to the presence of the sultan.

Sultan:

"May God bless you, chief physician," he said.

You gave birth to my daughter again!

Upon these words, the boy said:

"I only did my duty, sultan," he said.

The sultan, who was pleased with the boy's answer, said:

"From now on, you are my son-in-law," he said. From this moment on, you are engaged to my daughter. Let's start the wedding preparations immediately!

Upon the sultan's order, the engagement of the little sultan and the doctor was announced to the public. Not long after, the sultan appointed his son-in-law as the chief physician of the palace.

After the wedding preparations were completed, the marriage of the two young people was celebrated with festivities that lasted forty days and forty nights.

From that day on, the little sultan and the boy began to live a happy life.

Time comes, time goes... A long time has passed...

One day, while our groom, the chief physician, was sitting in front of the window in his room in the palace, he saw from a distance two young men, with their clothes and heads in tatters, approaching the palace. They came and stood at the door of the palace. They started to say something to the doorman.

These were not unfamiliar to the boy. He seemed to recognize these two young men with long hair and beards. He called a servant and told them to bring the two men standing at the door of the palace to him.

Two young men entered the room in fear. The boy said to them:

"Who are you, where do you come from and where are you going?" he asked.

When they started to tell who they were and what they had been through, the boy learned that these two were his real brothers.

His brothers did not recognize him because he was dressed in elegant silk clothes, had a long mustache, and had a huge, feathered turban on his head.

This time, when he introduced himself, his brothers could not understand what they were experiencing. They got up and hugged their little brother and told him not to be offended because they left him on the road and ran away. He didn't make any noise either.

Then he sat down and told his brothers what he had experienced.

When his brothers told him that they had been wandering around for months to find work and that they had finally arrived in India hungry and miserable, the boy immediately called the servants and brought a layer of clothes for both of them. He sent them to the bath and had them washed. He gave them beautiful horses. He put food in his saddlebags and money in his pockets and sent him off to his hometown.

Another giant:

It was said that the eyes of the daughter of the Indian Sultan were opened. Then, another giant jumped from beyond and said:

"Then someone is listening to what we talk about," he said. Let's search everywhere!

Giants, all together:

You said it right, let's call! They got up from their seats, grumbling. They started to search inside.

As soon as they opened the cupboard, they saw two brothers. They both fainted from fear and lay motionless.

They took these from his arms and legs, thinking he was sleeping. They took it out of the closet and threw it on the floor. There was no movement in either of them.

Then, one of the giants:

"When they realized we were going to catch them, they got scared and died," he said.

Another giant:

"Then they got their punishment," it was said.

Another:

"We don't eat dead human flesh," he said. Let's throw them outside, let the wolves and birds eat them!

As soon as he said this, a giant lifted them both by their legs, took them outside and threw them on the grass.

The boys, who lay unconscious outside for hours, woke up in the morning, when the weather was getting cooler. When they saw that they did not die, they thanked God. Then they listened around. When they heard snores coming from inside, they realized that the giants had not woken up yet, so they got up and ran away with all their might.

At daybreak, they arrived far from the giants' mansion.

At that time, they told each other that they had run away, leaving their brother on the road, and that this disaster had happened to them because they were jealous of him, but that they had escaped being eaten by the giants because God had mercy on them.

Ashamed of what they had done, they realized that they could neither go home nor go to India. They changed their ways to find a job and work in another city.

Fairytale for them, good health for us..

The “Bridge Built with Fairy Tales” eTwinning project offers a constructivist learning process that aims to help students get to know different cultures through fairy tales, recognize cultural similarities and differences, and develop creative products in a digital environment. During the project process, students effectively use 21st century skills: critical thinking, collaboration, digital literacy, communication, empathy, and creativity.

Thanks to this multidisciplinary approach; the achievements of Turkish, Geography, Visual Arts, Information Technologies, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Life Sciences courses overlap with the activities. These achievements are summarized below:

🎯 ACTIVE LEARNING – 21ST CENTURY SKILLS – CONSTRUCTIVIST APPROACH

The project is designed with an active learning approach that focuses on students. Each student is involved in the production process according to their own interests and skills. Students produce digital products using Web 2.0 tools, conduct research, exchange ideas through teamwork and take an active role in every stage of the project outputs. This process contributes to the development of skills such as problem solving, creative thinking, communication, digital skills and intercultural interaction.

Prin citirea basmelor prezentate de țările partenere, elevii își îmbunătățesc cunoștințele de limba română, limba engleză, istorie, cultură generală și abilitățile digitale. Elevii au învățat să creeze jocuri, cărți electronice, să lucreze pe diferite platforme, să analizeze critic un anumit subiect. CĂTANA CAMELIA CRISTINA

Elevii si-au folosit imaginatia si creativitatea pentru a crea desene adaptate basmelor si jocuri in echipe mixte. Acest proiect a contribuit la o mai bună colaborare între elevi care au creat diferite produse: afișe, felicitări, logo, desene grafice.

Elevii au reusit să extragă din fiecare basm citit valorile morale, valorile culturale și câteva elemente specifice pentru țara căreia îI aparținea basmul. Consider că această experiență a fost una reușită din care am avut cu toții de învățat.
