I totally agree. Advocacy goes beyond libraries.

Advocating for library service to children can often be done in the form of educating.

I think it's important for children's librarians to educate about what they do through service.

To show community members what is truly available to them and their children - for free!

There are too many important players to label who's "best"...perhaps librarians are best if we are talking specificially about within the walls of a library - but that's only one context!

The role of advocator is one of the most important for a librarian. Reaching out and making your services known is how they will succeed! But the effort needs to be present. Good in, good out...the car cannot make it to get gas without the wheels.

Although appropriate, may not always be best and only. Parents, educators, and guardians who positively influence children may be best. The motivation must be delivered and who better to do that than someone who has the passion to.

A child's primary caregiver needs to continue library

advocacy and reading outside the library. In the library

setting though, a Children's librarian is the best specialist

for the child because they have been trained and taught

how to interact with the child, how to help them, to educate

them, and are knowledgeable of what books will be good for

the child. Standard librarians without training may have a

harder time doing this.
