Project for Ukrainian refugees in newly set up schools in Estonia
Mental health and wellbeing from physical activity and creative pursuits.

1) a) Students will invite stakeholders from new schools to begin research and make sure there is a demonstrated need for this type of experience. 

b) Students visit specific schools to gain knowledge about the scale of their project. 

2) Students conduct sports  day / creative acitivies. 

3) Students relfect on impact of experience.

Goal
- Set the path for G11 and G10 new to CAS:
- An event in which G12 students share their experience, along with organizations they worked with

Learning Outcomes
- LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
- LO3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience.
- LO4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences.

Timeframe
- The fair happens at the beginning of the school year (October or February, depending on hemisphere) (Orientation/Induction day or week)
- Student-leaders to start the processes at the end of G11 year

Logistics
- Set a date for the CAS fair
- Mobilize as many stakeholders as possible

-       To provide emergency feminine sanitary products to those in need

 Investigation:
    Research the actual need for the project with the students (survey)
-       Contact the authorities of different levels (inform, get consent, seeking funds and support)

Preparation:
-       Build a team of 10 students, assign roles (eg. Who prepares the visuals, who buys the products, etc)
-       Decide the logistics of the project- at least a year
 
 Action:
Collaboration, management and execution:
-       Students work out timetable for the project, assign roles, how to communicate best, how to review the effectiveness

Taking Steps To Fix The World (Trip 1)

What village, needs, and wants external support. What state is the country in? Export and import trades? Currency? Political allegiances? World standing?


Preparation


Transport? Trip aims? Travel permits? Funding?


Action


Visit village. Meet with village residents and hold meetings. Understand needs. Create action plan to present to village for follow up missions. Implement phase 1; running water.


Reflection


What have we done on this trip? How do we feel about our actions? What did I do to support the mission? What would I change about my actions? What are our next steps?


Demonstration


Present trip to stakeholders through a variety of means. School newsletter, presentations, posters,

Install running water to our village


The location


A village in Kenya, outside Banane. 


The logistic issues


Security issues


Permissions from local governments/visas to enter the country.


Transport of students to Kenya. (Flights will need to be taken. Due to concerns around climate change this will raise ethical questions)


Bus to local town. Hike to village.


Obtaining the correct materials and having the technical expertise to install water pipes - Transportation of the materials to the village in advance.


Training for the students to enable them to have the skills to achieve their goals


Accommodation within the village during their stay




How will the  project be organized


Initially organized by the school creating links with aid organizations.


Students will have the responsibility of leising with aid organizations.


Students organize fundraising events to pay for materials and travel.


What will be achieved


Running water has been installed in the village, service purpose has been fulfilled.


What were the benefits of the project

Deeper understanding of issues faced by the international community.
Improving the daily lifestyle of people living in the area.
With improved water access they may be able to be more self sufficient and produce crops to me more self sufficient
