Walter and Danny, who anticipate a boring day, are shocked when they begin playing Zathura, a space-themed board game, which they realize has mystical powers when their house is shot into space. The kids can only return home once a player wins the game, but every turn a player takes brings new danger. An astronaut helps the family battle robots, enemy Zorgons, and anti-gravity all while completing the board game.
