Energy is the ability to do work. It allows us to do things such as movement. There are many types of energy that include potential energy, kinetic energy, and thermal energy. All types of energy's are in use when making a roller coaster. Potential energy is used when there is a drop, and the transfer of energy turns that energy into kinetic energy. Kinetic enrgy is used when the car is in movement or dropped. Thermal energy is in use when the car is going up-hill and is slowing down.

With the conservation of energy coasters need to start off high, positioning, to get a lot of potential energy. A lot of potential energy results in kinetic energy for the coaster to make it all the way through the track. This is known as the transfer of energy.

I have one car because if there were multiple cars it would result in too much mass causing the cars to crash. If there is a larger weight of mass than the cars would go faster thus making it harder to to slow down. There i a higher chance of the cars crashing. When constructing the roller coaster i decided to make the first hill the highest. This would give the car as much potential energy as possible. The end result would be a lot of kinetic energy which would allow the car to make it through the whole track. my instinct told me to put one loop. My reason for this is because build up potential and kinetic energy (Conservation of Energy). Another reason i included only one loop is because with multiple loops the car will have too much kinetic energy and crash.

My coaster had success on the first try, i did not have to redesign my track. I believe that my coaster was successful due to the start of the track. The track started off in a high position which built up potential energy. This potential energy then transferred into kinetic energy. The transfer of energy got the car to make it through the whole track without crashing or stopping.

I believe that in order for the roller coaster to be successful the start needs to be high to have a lot of potential energy. Make the first hill as high and steep as possible to give it more kinetic energy. After the steep hill, add a loop at the lowest point/middle of the track to build up both potential and kinetic energy. After the loop. make the track go up-hill at a constant rate so the car can build up thermal energy, lose kinetic energy, and slow down until it gets to a completer stop.
