         <description><![CDATA[<p>Secret Army Organization (OAS), led by former French Generals in Algeria, was formed to stop Algeria's independence and created a coup against the Algerian government but was suppressed by the people. The Evian negotiations for independence were suspended and waves of attacks by the OAS created fighting within the country until the cease-fire on 18th March 1962. The Evian Accords were signed which formalized Algeria as an Independent country and introduced peaceful exchanges between the two countries.</p>]]></description>
