Yes, I would enjoy participating in a competition as shown in the video.

Firstly, I love the experience i can get at competitions . Being able to face against unique opponents from other schools or countries help me experience different playstyles gives me exposure to diff strategies, techniques..., allowing me to gauge my skills and see how much I’ve improved since the past. Regardless of the outcome , I always take matchs as learning experiences for me to strive and work harder for better results in the future. For example, I had a badminton competition that i signed up for previously. During the match, even though i lost quicky, I enjoyed the time spent there interacting with my opponents and gaining expert tips. Thus, the experience i get always gets me excited for improvements by participating in competitions as shown in the vid.

Secondly, i want to represent my school. Being able to represent my school gives me a sense of pride and if i end up winning something, ill have a sense of accomplishment filled all over me. Since the end of my cca days as o levels creeps in,i had been holding regrets for not doing more and not trying hard enough in practice. Even though ive made some accomplishments such as qualifying for the first time in second round for my school, i wasnt able to win anything. Thus, i want to go back in time and represent my school once again, and getting rid of all my regrets in the past.

However, others may think otherwise as people may not be able to handle the stress. Losing because o<s>f oneself’s </s>one's abilities is the worst experience an athlete can have. Causing their team to los<s>e </s><s>Making</s> their team lose makes them feel depressed and disappointed, taking all the blame on oneselfs. After such an experience, they may not enjoy participating in any competitions in the future. Personally, i can understand why one might feel this way as ive also had a similar experience, even though everyone was doing great, i was the only one that lost, resulting in our team’s disqualification. However, we still ended up going into the second round by luck. Though i never wanted to qualify with such a cheap route.

Though i still disagree with this statement as a team’s lost isnt on a single player, it is on the entire team. No one should only blame themselves for losing even though the competition was a team effort. I believe that every teammate has a part to play and no one shall be held responsible even though they lost. In conclusion,<s>even though ive had my own traumas and negative experiences. </s>

<s>All in all,</s> i still enjoy participating in competitions as shown in the video.

Seems too long for a 2 min speech; vocab still rather simple, personal examples should b specific Content: 6-7/10m

Yes.

Firstly, I would as swimming has always been a passion of mine. I have been swimming since I was 4years old and have participated in a few competitions before. One memorable competition for me would be the one I attended in primary 4, where I won silver for backstroke. However, I have not been training competitively as I am taking my o levels this year and need to dedicate more time to my studies. Therefore I would really enjoy participating in such a competition as it would bring back many fond memories for me.

Secondly, participating and training for such competitions will help me become more disciplined, resilient and responsible. Though difficult training and long, tiring days,I will be able to learn to become more disciplined and persevere through hardships. Too short; need 1-2 more EEEs; insert personal example here and explain what life lesson/moral value you learned

However, some people might not enjoy participating in such competitions as they might have other interests and skills.

Yes I would like to participate in such competitions shown in the video.

Firstly, I would enjoy the challenge it presents. Last year, I participated in my school's cross-country race even though I'm not a strong runner. The process of training and pushing my limits was incredibly rewarding. Similarly, preparing for a swimming competition would give me a clear goal to work towards and a sense of achievement, regardless of the final result.

Secondly, competitions provide valuable learning opportunities. When I joined a Chinese debate competition earlier this year, I gained skills in critical thinking and quick response that I couldn't have learned in classroom settings. It taught me about discipline, focus, and handling pressure - skills that are useful beyond school.

However, one concern I have is about performance anxiety. During a preparation of competition, I always feel so nervous that I made mistakes I never made during practice. This makes me wonder if I can meet the expectations not only from myself but my family, coach or teammates. Thus, participating in a competition can take a toll on one's mental health. <s>Causing damage</s> on my mental well-being.

In conclusion, while the pressure of competition is real, my past experiences have shown me that the benefits of personal growth and skill development make it worthwhile. Whether it's swimming, running, or debating, what matters most is not winning, but the lessons learned and the courage to participate. That's why I would be willing to take on this challenge. content: 8/10

Yes, I would participate in a competition like this, as I feel that competitions can benefit me through instilling the value of grit in me. For example, when I was an international student in Jakarta, my parents signed me up for many swimming competitions, as they believed I had a passion for swimming competitively. I had to train for 5 months everyday with my coach to make sure that I was progressing well. In the end, I managed to pull through and make it out in first for the majority of the competitions, with some in second. As I reflected on my success, I remember during training sessions how it would be so easy to give up. But I never did, because my coach was always shouting "Don't stop! One more lap to go!" or "You got this! I believe in you!" Hence, I would love to participate in a competition like as shown as I would love to look back on the value of grit I demonstrate during trainings.

I would also like to participate in competitions to evoke my sense of pride in myself. I have always been afraid of failure, but by participating in competitions, I can be sure that my performance will at least be able to attain a poll podium? position. Even if I don't, I should still be proud for trying my hardest and working hard to train up until the competition. Therefore, I would participate in this competition to instill a better sense of pride in myself.

However, I can see why some people may not participate in competitions as such. Some people are too afraid of failure and may not have strong self esteem, and when combined, may make them seem like participating in competitions is just a waste of time, or a humiliation to themselves.

Therefore, I believe that some people do not participate as they do not want to embarrass themselves in front of a large audience, especially if the crowd has their friends or family members who may have high expectations of themselves.

Conclusion: Repeat your stand and mention why the pros of competitions outweigh the cons;

vocab rather simple; content: 6/10

personally, I think teenagers would be keen to participate in endurance sports like marathons or biking because the generation nowadays are more sports-inclined. for example, recent studies show that many students leverage on their,<s> the generation now, use</s> DSA applications to enter prestigious schools such as Raffles and HCI. DSA is the application process of using their talents, including sports, to obtain a place in these highly coveted schools. henceforth, this outstanding sport talents of youths shows that they would be more keen to participate in these endurance sports.

another reason why I think teenagers would be keen to participate in these endurance-like sports is due to the fact that teenagers are more likely to take up a challenge. endurance sports like running marathons train a persons mental and physical state, where they would need to push through and surpass their own unfound limits. hence, teenagers are more likely to want to face and overcome these challenges for their own personal development, henceforth cultivating many morals such as self-discipline, perseverance and grit.

on the flip side, many others may not want to participate in these endurance sports as they are not interested in sports in general. Sentence structure appears broken/singlish here; incomprehensible: not only the sports scene, but also the art scene from teenagers are booming. for instance, many teenagers now are launching various initiatives for art competitions such as the cartel fiesta which recently happened at marina square. this fiesta was used to promote teenagers artwork and small art businesses launched by youths. henceforth, they would be more inclined to the arts scene than to bother in participating in endurance sports.

to restate my point, I would still have the stand in where teenagers would be keen to participate in endurance sports like running and biking.

Many good, clear and relevant examples to support points;

Qn is about teenagers in general; Q2 need not be too long; save your content for Q3 Mark: 12/15

<s>personally, I would enjoy partaking in endurance sports as I enjoy practicing the value of self-disipline and perseverance. i have actually partaken in many running marathons such as the Shin-chan and snoopy marathon where these marathons would be themed from these characters. hence, polishing and developing my physical endurance but also my mental.</s>

<s>looking at this question on a wider scale, schools have cultivated endurance sports like running through fun activities in pe classes where activities like touch rugby is introduced for students to learn the fundamentals of endurance sports. the governments has also created activesg where gyms and swimming pools would be subsidised for Singaporeans to use, encouraging many others to participate in sports.</s>

I feel that It is more important to finish than to win because finishing reflects perseverance and personal growth. Completing a task, no matter how difficult, shows a person’s ability to overcome obstacles and remain committed. For example, in long-distance races like marathons, many runners do not aim to win but rather to prove to themselves that they can complete the course. This sense of achievement builds confidence and inner strength. Finishing, in this case, becomes a personal victory that matters more than being first. Therefore, the act of finishing cultivates endurance and character, which are qualities that extend far beyond the finish line. Well done body paragraph here

Finishing is also more valuable than winning because it ensures learning and development through the process. Winning is often a momentary event, while the journey to completion involves continuous effort, reflection, and improvement. For example, a student who finishes a challenging research project, even without getting top marks, gains valuable skills like time management, critical thinking, and resilience. These skills are far more beneficial in the long run than simply earning a high grade. This highlights how the process of finishing helps individuals grow holistically, making it more meaningful than just securing a win.

However, some might argue that winning is more important because it provides recognition, rewards, and opportunities. In highly competitive fields like sports, business, or academics, being the best often leads to scholarships, promotions, or fame. For instance, an athlete who wins a gold medal is more likely to receive sponsorships and media attention than one who simply finishes the race. From this perspective, winning appears to bring greater advantages and is seen as the true measure of success.

However, this view overlooks the importance of integrity, persistence, and personal achievement. While winning does bring external rewards, it is often temporary and sometimes depends on luck or circumstances beyond one’s control. Finishing, on the other hand, is always within a person’s reach and reflects inner strength. Additionally, a narrow focus on winning can lead to stress, cheating, or loss of passion. For example, students or athletes under pressure to win may sacrifice mental health or ethical behavior. In contrast, those who value the journey and aim to finish with integrity often experience deeper satisfaction and long-term success. Thus, finishing is more reasonable and a more realistic goal than winning.

Personal example/experience sorely lacking; seems like AI generated; 12/15 m

personally, I would agree with the statement where it is more important to finish than to win as I would prioritise the learning journey/ process of a competition rather than the final result, in this case winning. a quote that resonates with me would be "It's not about the result but <s>its about</s> the friends we made lessons we learnt along the way" which shows that the more important takeaway from a competition is finishing it than to win. based on my personal experience, I have been in the situation where I was in dilemma to in whether to finish or to win a competition. 2 years ago, I fractured my right ankle on the day of a dance competition during a rehearsal. it was evident that my team could not win the competition as it was a small team of 7 and one member missing would be obvious. hence, I was presented with the option for my team to partake in the competition or to forfeit it since I was also the team leader. so, I decided for my team to still partake in the competition to honour the hardwork and dedication they have put in for the dance competition. surprisingly, my team placed third in the competition. henceforth, it shows that even in the midst of wanting to only finishing the competition it led us to victory, where it can be obtained in many ways even personal growth. personal growth in this case would include learning, understanding and applying values such as perseverance, faith and grit. in conclusion, i agree that the more vital component in a competition is to finish than to win.

Incomplete?

Yes I would enjoy participating in a competition.

Firstly, it helps to ensure that I remain physically and mentally active and healthy. Preparing for competitions mean I will be forced to take part in strenuous exercise as part of training for the competitions. These trainings help improve my cardiovascular health endurance by engaging various muscle groups in the body. The exercise also helps improve my mental health by releasing feel-good hormones such as endorphins, helping to reduce the stress that may have accumulated <s>inside of me</s> after a long day at school. This is especially crucial for me as it prevents me from having a mental breakdown, which I cannot afford as I am nearing my O levels. Overall, these make sure that I will be an all-rounded pupil, excelling in both academics and sports with a healthy mind and body.

Secondly, it helps me improve myself as a person overall. Taking part in such competitions require weeks or even months of grueling training. This can sometimes be held amongst my team members in school or even outside my school with others. During these training sessions, I can meet new friends and foster better relationships with current ones, leading to the broadening of my social circle which allows me to develop public speaking skills. Also, during tough training, I develop and demonstrate the values grit, perseverance, discipline, and responsibility. Despite the tough schedules and priorities I may have, I learnt to balance all my commitments and meet deadlines, all while preparing for competitions.

However, others may contend otherwise. They may find that such sports competitions may not be their cup of tea as they may not be inclined to sports competitions. Some people may argue that they enjoy taking part in sports as a form of pass time. They may also argue that they have insufficient time to train and manage their daily activities without sacrificing anything.

Although their concerns are valid, I still stand with taking part in sports competitions as they help maintain mental and physical health, as well as develop one's character. Taking part in sports competitions help me find clarity in my daily life and make me a better person. Content: 9-10/10

I largely agree with the statement, as competition often drives people to improve, innovate, and push beyond their limits. However, it is also important to recognise that improvement can occur in collaborative or self-motivated environments too.

Competition fuels progress by creating pressure to excel. For example, in the academic context, students often work harder when they are competing with their peers. Healthy competition can motivate individuals to revise more effectively or strive for higher grades, leading to personal academic growth. For instance, when two students aim for the top spot in class, both are likely to improve in the process.

However, improvement can still occur without direct competition. A passionate artist may work on perfecting their craft simply out of love for their work, not because they are trying to be better than others. In some cases, competition may even lead to stress or unethical behaviour, such as cheating or burnout, which ultimately hinders growth.

In conclusion, while competition is a powerful motivator for improvement, it is not the only path. Self-driven ambition, passion, and collaboration can also lead to meaningful progress. Therefore, I agree with the statement to a large extent, but not entirely.

No personal examples; too short (mist have 2 agree and 1 disagree); If you want to use AI/Chatgpt, at least make it personalised and follow the correct format

No, I wouldn't want to participate in a competition shown in the video. There are Mutiple reasons as to why. Firstly, It requires immerse amount of energy. For example, all my <s>bodily </s>muscles are pushed to the limit and my endurance will be challenged to the maximum. I can't handle it as I don't have the physical capability nor the stamina to take up the mental. This will result in me being exhausted and it may lead to muscle injury and other health concerns. <s>accidents like drowning</s>. Secondly, it takes up too much of my time. Being a Sec 4 student, my schedule is packed to the brim with <s>full packs of schedule,</s> tuition and classes to prepare for the o level. All of this means that I may not have to time to train and prepare for the competition. Thus, making me being overwork and having a low productivity output with too much on my hands. However, some may argue that it enable students to have a holistic education. With hardly time to work out physically due to being preoccupied with studying, this provides a wonderful opportunity to excel in other fields other than academic ones. Nevertheless, the saying " A student who can do everything, is a student who can't do anything" justify the understanding that of a student with no self identity. And not passionate on what they are doing, especially in the long run. Hence its important to strike a balance between school and<s> relaxed</s> excurricular activies in order to prevent metal and physical brun out on both sides of the fence.

Good balanced perspectives, but some word choice/sentence structure errors 7-8/10m
