Assalamualaikum & Hi everyone

Name: Syarifah Afiqah bt Syed Shahrin

Matric number: A168427

Date: 16/8/2021-20/8/2021

Your progress so far

For week 3, I learnt about the tajweed rules in the al-Quran. In learning tajweed rules, there are major/clear mistakes and minor/hidden mistakes.

Clear mistakes are when we do not pronounce the letters correctly. They are considered as major mistakes because they might cause mixing of the sounds and perhaps changing the meanings of the words which is a clear violation. E.g. saying Kaaf (ك) instead of Qaaf (ق).

On the other hand, hidden mistakes are when we do not pronounce the letter perfectly which is often obvious for those who are not native speakers of Arabic. E.g. pronounce light words heavily or heavy words lightly.

Your feelings and thoughts

Through this week's sessions, I find it is very refreshing because I get to revise the tajweed rules that I have learned when I was in school. I was also awestruck as I realised how huge this tajweed field is. There are so many branches that I am yet to master. However, although one may not memorize the name of the tajweed rules, it is still an obligation to know how to read it when he/she encounters it in the al-Quran.

How did you learn and apply the skill of decision making in your EP journey?

Through this EP journey, an event that really tested my decision making skill was when I was deciding whether to change my EP project. To reach the final decision, I weighed the pros and cons of my previous and proposed project. Through this I realised which one will benefit me more. Changing my EP project to this project was the best move because this project will not just help me throughout my whole life but if Allah's wills, in hereafter as well.

How did you manage your time throughout this EP journey?

The class is from Monday to Friday in the afternoon. Since the weekly objective cost me a day or two to learn, for the remaining days I continue reading and learning al-Quran to achieve the final objective which is complete 30 juz in sanad way. The class also lasted for a maximum of 3 hours thus it does not affect my other daily activities.

Your plan for next week (Week 4)

Week 4 scheduled plan is to resume reading al-Quran from where I stopped until I finish 30 juz with my teacher.

Name: Faraheda Amilia Binti Mohd Fauzi
Matric no.: A 167785
Date of 3rd week EP: 21th- 25th June 2021

Assalamualaikum and Hi everyone !

Your progress so far

I think the progress is very positive until now. A lot of knowledge I gained and it solidify me to improve myself and be a better Muslim. Like the previous weeks, I continued my classes in Fiqh about the obligation of fast and zakat. Besides, for Tasawwuf part, I have been taught about the sins of eyes, tongue, ears and hand. All of these also educate me on the personal nature of Islamic scholars through advice desired by the soul.

Feelings & thoughts

I feel very grateful and happy with my choice of my elective posting. I really hope that this will benefit me with the basic knowledges of Islam in daily practices as a student and future doctor.

How did you learn and apply the skill of decision making in your EP journey

Throughout my EP journey, I learned few simple steps for a better decision making. I need to first identify the optimum outcome that I want to achieve such as to increase the productivity and ability in making decision. When I have my purpose, it is easier for me to always align with the effort needed to achieve the target. Second, a better decision can be achieved by assessing all available options appropriately and establishing priorities needed. The best decision is when we manage to assess the reason behind each of evaluations.

How did you manage your time throughout this EP journey

Along the way of this course, I honestly not really had any problem with my time management since the time spent for the class happened to be my free time. After finishing my end of posting examination last week, I can now fully focus on this course until the end.

Plan for next week (Week 4)

I will continue my learning session for other topics and to maintain my spirit to keep gaining knowledges.

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

Hi everyone!

Name : Rosnaini binti Sudi

Matric number: A167773

Date: 28th June - 4th July 2021

Your progress so far

Alhamdulillah. By the third week in the program, we had studied more than half of the syllabus. I have also prepared notes for some of the topics that have been studied. However, there are some big topics that need to be detailed and have taken more time to be lectured. It is possible that the organizers will provide some additional classes to ensure that students can complete the syllabus that has been set.

Your feelings and thoughts

Attending this program is the right decision. Although it has only been about three weeks, I have gained a lot of knowledge and benefits. I was able to learn a lot of new things and revisit things I had already forgotten. I am also very impressed with the Ustaz and Ustazah. They are so trustworthy in imparting knowledge. They only convey what they have learned from their teachers and do not speak according to their opinions alone especially matters involving religious laws. Not only that, but they also took great care of the word they use. There was a time when Ustazah was explaining things that invalidate the ablution (if I am not mistaken). Ustazah apologized first before saying words such as 'tahi' or 'berak'. Masyaa Allah, husnul khuluq. Furthermore, they are not ashamed to apologize even to their students. They are not ashamed to state that they do not know about things that they do not know of. Trustworthy and humble. May Allah grant us these two qualities.

How did you learn and apply the skill of decision-making in your EP journey?

The beginning of this posting alone has challenged my ability to make decisions. At first, I wanted to take something related to business for my EP project. However, due to the pandemic situation and the uncertainty of whether I will be able to implement the project per what has been designed, then I have changed to the current program. After doing some research and weighing the pros and cons that will be faced, then I have got the final word to choose a project that can be carried out online.

How did you manage your time throughout this EP journey?

This third week is less busy as there are no exams this week. But I still have to prepare for the OSCE exams next week. Time management is relatively easy for morning classes because usually from 10 am until lunchtime my schedule is quite empty. It's just that the time to revise and make notes is a bit difficult for me to find time because at night I usually have other classes or revisions for exams. Overall, time management throughout my EP journey was smooth and easy. I just have to follow the schedule and avoid procrastination. In addition, I also need to be prepared for any changes such as changing exam schedules or delayed classes that need to be postponed to another time. I have to learn to adapt to changes that are happening beyond my control.

Your plan for next week (Week 4)

Stay focus and avoid procrastination. Be prepared for any extra classes.

Assalamualaikum and Hi everyone.

Name: Nur Affrina bt Mohamad Arshad
Matric no: A169464
Date of report: 27th August 2021

Your progress so far
Alhamdulillah, my progress was good so far and had lots of improvements. In week 3, I had learned about the Quranic tafsir and theology, Quranic law and Quran and contemporary issues. These three big topics and subtopics were covered. For example, in Islam there are the sunni, shi’a and Ibadi. Under sunni, there are Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi’i, Hanbali and Ahmadi. In Islam, we also have the four sources of law which are Quran, sunnah and hadith, consensus and qiyas, istislah and istihan. A good progress of knowledge for this week.

Your feelings and thoughts
Alhamdulillah, I feel blessed in completing the task of my elective posting. It was a good choice for me, because i got to learn from the overview of others from different countries. A discussion made me understand better and summarise the topics. As time went, I tend to forget basic things that I have learned from schools, so by learning it back, we as muslims can practice in daily life with better understanding about Islam.

How did you learn and apply the skill of decision making in your EP journey
Decision making is a must in everyone’s life. It is hard but I had to choose. I learned about decision making throughout life, during UPSR either to choose boarding school or not, or even choosing courses in universities application form. So, for my EP, at first I was planning to join mandarin class. However, the class was scheduled before my final exams. On the other hand I had this Islamic and its scriptures course to join too. So, I had to choose between these two, either mandarin class (pros; learning new language, cons; cannot give full commitments) or Islamic course (pros; increase knowledge about Islam, cons; none). After a week, I chose Islamic and its scriptures and did my proposal. At the end, I chose thing that benefits the most.

How did you manage your time throughout this EP journey
In this elective posting journey, I had planned things that I would do throughout these weeks. In my proposal, I had put the time limits and scheduled on the topics that need to be covered within the time limit. Alhamdulillah, it went well. Plus, I started my EP after my final exams, so I can focus and did my EP in peace. I usually did my EP during free time and after every topics, I would do my course overview video for that week to be uploaded in padlet.

Your plan for next week (week 4)
My plan for week 4 is to continue with the topic on relationship of Quran and medicine or health and I also plan to start doing my video presentation.

At first, I was thinking to do a voluntary programme as I was very interested in volunteerism. However, considering this pandemic situation, I realized that I need to think twice and put all pros and cons together. So, to finally reach the final decision, I weighed the pros and cons of all my elective posting lists and adjusted the course to match the current situation of pandemics.

How did you manage your time throughout this EP journey?

Truthfully, I only have some difficulty managing my time with this online course during my first week of EP journey as my friends and I were having our final exam. It is the last topic in akidah subject after we learnt about the right way of akidah in islam. Learning and knowing about apostasy is indeed important as a muslims, not for us to apply in our life, but for us to avoid doing it.

My feelings and thoughts
I felt so glad as I am able to learn almost all compulsory things for every muslims (fardhu ain) in akidah. Ustaz always reminded us in the classes that 'not knowing something in akidah is not an exceptions for someone to be claimed as apostate. Therefore, being able to know something tht is compulsary for everyone is a nikmat from allah that i need to appreciate.

How did i learn and apply decision making skills throughout my EP journey
EP thought me how to decide which one is important in my daily life. At the first 2 weeks of EP, there were clashed between exams and EP. The first week I decided to focus more on exams and left the EP behind (by asking recorded sessions from admin of programme). However I realized that by doing this, it needs me to commit more time to review the recorded sessions and tend to make me procrastinate. Therefore, the 2nd week of EP, I decide to balance my time by doing both things in one day.

How did I managed my time throughout EP journey
At the beginning of EP, I struggled a lot with time management as i need to balance my study for medicine and EP at the same time. Therefore, I can make sure both of it can be done without neglecting one of it.

Plan for Week 4
I will focus more on the classes and make notes for it. The first topic is I learned the signs for Malaysia's city and state such as Melaka, Johor, Kota Kinabalu dan Shah Alam. I find it interesting about learning the place because the sign for state like Kedah, Johor Bahru, Sabah dan Terengganu uses the first letter in their spelling which makes it a lot more easier to memorize them. For example, the sign for Terengganu is “t” whereas for Kedah is “k”. The sign for Ipoh is quit similar to Perak except for their location. Next, I learned sign for occupations such as nurse, police and teacher. Im sort of amazed on how the the sign of certain occupation is like representation of their job scope such as the sign of soldier is like someone holding the gun and for the doctor is like someone who has been using stethoscope.

Your feelings and thoughts
I felt delighted and proud as i have come this far. After taking this class, i realized that one will truly become a better listener, communicator, and multitasker only when they communicate and understand with each other. I want to communicate with all group of people so i should do better and tried harder. Only that way will make all of that happen.

How did you learn and apply the skill of decision making in your EP journey?
There are many things that I wanted to do and learn for my elective posting. My first option is I wanted to learn is to do a haircut but i cannot proceed with that plan due to MCO and many saloon was closed. Then, I thought it was good to learn about clinic management skills but after had discussions with my supervisor, i was advised to take online learning beacuse the clinic attachment at the current pandemic was considered a high risk exposure. Then after have some thoughts, I decided to leave out my comfort zone and challenge myself to learn a new language which is sign language. It suits my interest of study and the most suitable course within the time given. So i have chosen the course at open learning after looking its contents and the level that is particularly for beginners. Therefore i can learn my basics well from this course.

How did you manage your time throughout this EP journey?
As we are in semester break, so managing my time to learn the sign language is not a big challenge. I learn this language via open learning so it depends on me to decide when to learn it. i would spend a half of hour to revise back previous lessons and another about 2 hours to learning new topics.

Your plan for next week (Week 4)
For week 4, i plan to finish the rest of learning materials. I will learn 2 more new topics which is weather and festivals. Then i will prepare to do reflective report and video presentation.

Thus improved my faith and trust as a Muslim is really a must and superior than others, thus I really push myself to learn.

How did you manage your time throughout this EP journey?
My program running in the busy time, I have study week, final exam and EP thus its really time consuming, management of time had brought me this far. At the early days I try to minimise task and focus on lecture(EP) at the noon and night I try to study for exam, even though its tiring but I believed there is reason and this is a practice for me. Along the examination week I did not attend any of classes for EP but I try to ask for recording for my teacher yet I still have time to watch videos recording at night or during pleasure.

Your plan for next week (week 4)
Focus, rewatch lectures and ready myself for a new knowledges.

Sharain bt Zulkfli (A168153)

Your progress so far

In week 3, I started learning to craft sentences. It was a bit tough as the whole sentences were written in Arabic, which I am not familiar with. Therefore, I often asked the tutor what was the meaning for each sentence. As the class was conducted online, all my questions were conveyed to him via email which sometimes he missed them out. Hence, I used other alternative by asking my mother’s ustazah to translate them for me. Furthermore, there were some signs that were used which confused me. I questioned them all to him as well. In conclusion, in week 3, I learnt 2 things which are crafting Arabic sentences and the meaning of them.

Your feelings and thoughts

I am so excited and grateful as I also had the chance to learn some Arabic words. The class has becoming more and more fascinating!

How did you learn and apply the skill of decision-making in your EP journey

I believe that as I faced a new problem during the journey, I immediately set my mind to think of the solution. I set few ways and decided the best one to solve them. For example, when I first learnt how to stroke alphabets, it was so tough which caused me to spend more than 2 hours. As it took plenty of my time, I decided to do a template for each alphabet and learn from that. Therefore, I learn the skill of decision-making from the problems that I encountered.

How did you manage your time throughout this ep journey

My time has been divided equally between the project and daily routines. I have made my own schedule which was really handy. I usually spent 2 hours in the morning from 8am to 10am and continue 2 hours more during night time at 8pm to 10pm. As the classes were just conducted via email, it made me so much easier to manage my time.

Your plan for next week

My next plan is to write another surah and start completing all the tasks needed.

EP WEEK 3

Name: Ulyssies Bin Suderman
Matric: A168206
Date: 16/8/2021 - 22/8/2021

Your progress so far
In 3rd week, I wanted to start using colours for my art. I got pretty good drawing in black and white for the past few weeks so now I plan to practice with colours. I drew a portrait using a reference photo of a celebrity. I struggled a lot in choosing the colours that will match my reference so I learned a trick where I can copy the colour from the reference photo to use on my drawing. This trick was good for beginners who still have difficulties in picking out colours.

It helped me finish my piece and I thought it looked pretty good for a beginner. I wanted to do a hyper realism art so the attached drawing took me days to finish. I focused a lot on the details and colours that made it more realistic. I’m happy with the result even though there are still room for me to improve.

Your feelings and thoughts
I feel really happy to see how much I have improved the past 3 weeks. Comparing my art from when I first started digital art to this week was very satisfying. I hope I ontinue to do well on this.

How did you learn and apply the skill of decision making in your EP journey?
I needed to use decision making skills at the start of the elective posting when figuring out what project would suit my interest while still be educative for my personal advancement. I chose digital art because it perfectly fits the mark.

Every week I also have to decide which technique of drawing suits me and not just copy how other artists do their art. I figured out that blatantly copying other artists’ work made me not happy with my art. I’m happy to say that after these few week, I found a way of drawing that’s less complicated and suits me best.

Decision making skills also plays a part when I’m making a colour palette for my drawings. I need to ensure the colours are harmonious together and does not clash or ruin the piece at the end. It’s an important step before starting any art pieces.

How did you manage your time throughout this EP journey?
At the beginning of the EP, I already had a rough guide on what I wanted to focus each week of the EP; from learning the Procreate app, sketching, shading, colouring, etc. This helped save time by knowing what my goal is in a particular week.
I needed to ensure I had enough time to complete my personal goals while also enjoying what I am doing.

Your plan for next week (Week 4)

On the 4th week, I plan to start an instagram page to showcase my art pieces, draw more pieces to upload and also plan out my video presentations for the whole EP.
