I know more than the average Joe, and I’m willing to do research on how to utilize a specific program or device. I’m the type of person that reads the entire ventilator manual because I’m a naturally curious individual that wants to know how things work. I have subpar experience with data analytics, but I’m willing to learn. At UCLA, I was part of the Performance Improvement Committee, and we would have to analyze CAUTI and CLABSI rates. Ever since I was a kid, I was glued to the computer screen, studying or playing video games. I would spend hours trying to figure out how to use video editing software, new presentation applications, and Photoshop. In terms of Excel, I remember taking a class on statistics where we utilized Excel extensively but forgot most of the technical concepts I learned. Currently, I only use it for budgeting and planning vacations with friends. I can do the usual cut, copy and paste, screenshot, but newer innovations like padlet and the video powerpoints we used last semester was all new to me.  I love playing video games so that helped with dealing with technology growing up. I have only used EPIC when charting even in nursing school, so I was lucky and didn't have to learn anything different.

This technology fascinated me because it showed me how far we have come. In the snow-white story, this is the equivalent of the talking mirror, a magical being. I am also terrified at the same time because it makes me wonder about the possibility of self-destructive technology that we have seen in films such as The Terminator. I don't think I have any experience with data analytics or ICT...partly because I don't know what those are. So I am looking forward to this class to help me get more comfortable with technology and data analytics.
