In the Yalta Conference the 3 main leaders of the Allied Powers met and split Germany into 3 sections and did the same for Berlin. This did not go over well because Joseph Stalin and the USSR ended up taking over Eastern Germany after Poland fell to communism after Stalin did not allow free elections.

Marshall Plan (1947)

The Marshall Plan is an effect of World War II, this helped rebuild the European economy by aiding with capital and materials. In total the US gave Europe $15 Billion.

The NATO was formed for three reasons, stop the spread of Communism, stopping the revival of nationalist military in Europe through a big North American presence of the country, encouraging political integration.

Armas stages coup to control Guatemala (1954)

This is the effect of the U.S trying to contain communism and trying to help Guatemala not become communist. The USA funded and trained a crew of 480 men led by Carlos Castillo Armas. The US tried to criticize and isolate Guatemala internationally. Carlos Armas invaded Guatemala on June 18, 1954, backed by a heavy crusade of warfare, as well as air bombings of Guatemala City and a naval blockade.

Warsaw Pact (1955)

This is the effect of bus segregation. Rosa Parks ignited this boycott when she refused to move out of her seat that was made for all white people. Many people kept it going because they also believed the ideology that segregation needs to be resolved and everyone needs to be free.

February 1960 - Greensboro Sit-in protest

At the first sit in four African American friends sit down for lunch but they don't get served they get drinks and food poured on them.

April 3 - May 10 1963 - Police arrest Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

This is the effect of the Birmingham Campaign, him and his fellow activists were rioting in the most segregated city in the US; Birmingham, Alabama. After peaceful riots, policemen turned fire hoses and police dogs on the marchers and children. MLK gets arrested for his involvement in the rioting and writes his famous letter, "Letter from Birmingham Jail".

August 28, 1963 - March on Washington. King’s “I Have a Dream” Speech

This is an effect of JFK not writing a bill to Congress about civil rights equality. MLK and 200,000 thousand other people gathered at the Washington Monument after a March and listened to MLK most famous speech of his lifetime, his "I have a dream" speech.

July 2, 1964 - President Johnson signs the Civil Rights Act of 1964

February 21, 1965 - Civil Rights leader Malcolm X is murdered

This is the effect of Daniel Ellsberg thinking the Vietnam War was unwinnable and that something needed to be done. So he released top secret set of documents officially named the "Report of the Office of the Secretary of Defense Vietnam Task Force. It contained classified material from the archives of the Department of Defense and the CIA. It also showed that John F. Kennedy had actively helped overthrow and assassinate South Vietnamese President Ngo Dinh Diem.

April 30, 1975 - Fall of Saigon

This the effect of the Watergate Scandal. On June 17, 1972 5 people broke into the Watergate Office Building in DC, to find stuff out about how the democratic do stuff. After that Nixon sweared he knew nothing about it until he was forced to turn over tapes that after they reviewed them it turned out that he knew everything about the break-in and he finally resigned due to his involvement in the scandal.

This ensures access to sites use and possession of sacred objects and the freedom to worship without criticism. This was signed by President Jimmy Carter on Augest 11, 1978. This was one of the only bills Jimmy Carter signed.
