I have introduced this course at UNSW in 2016 and have taught it since. It's my favourite course since I'm passionate about nature and environmental sustainability. Thanks for choosing it!

My favourite place to relax is Coxs River, one of the main rivers providing drinking water for Sydney (see photo). Sometimes, Platypus can be seen in the water.

I am currently a postgraduate student majoring in Biomedical Engineering. With an engineering background, I have always been interested in the intersection of engineering and sustainability.

The global environmental pollution issues constantly remind me of the challenges that need to be addressed when developing industries.

My favorite place to relax is a small park near my home. Watching dogs run freely across the vast green fields brings me a sense of relaxation.

I am an international student from China. This is my second year of postgraduate study in UNSW.

I am interested in innovative, up-to-date, sustainable, and stable strategies that address environmental impact. I am also keen to gain more experience working with others and solving problems collaboratively. These are the main reasons why I chose this course.

I have no fixed relaxing place but I usually play with my dog when I am free. His name is DouDou (Mr.Bean in English). He is full of energy everyday and curious to everything. Playing with him can really kill my negative energy from daily life can loose my weight by the way.

I am an undergraduate in 4th year of my Bachelor of Civil Engineering. I enrolled in this course because I want to be able to factor in sustainable practices when I am working full time. Whether I'm going to be working on existing projects, creating new ones or innovating, I want to know how to be as sustainable and carbon neutral as possible when designing/building future based solutions/projects.

I am inspired by my family who are engineers that innovate and try their hardest to make a difference in their fields. I am also inspired by God and his sustainable creation.

I am a first-year postgraduate student in engineering science. I am really interested in how to analyse and assess the sustainability of industrial systems. By learning this course, I can also know more assessment methods and tools which are helpful for my future studies.

I am currently a 3rd-year civil engineering student from Samoa, with a keen interest in learning about sustainable infrastructure and construction practices.

Growing up in a country on the front lines of climate change, I’ve witnessed firsthand how rising sea levels and extreme weather threaten island communities. These experiences have inspired me to focus on developing sustainable solutions that can help protect and empower vulnerable regions like my home.

When I’m back in Samoa, my favorite place to unwind is the beach :)

I have a deep love for nature and prefer living in places with beautiful environments rather than in the bustling city center. However, in recent years, environmental issues have become increasingly severe, and I would like to make some contribution to this. This is why I chose this field of study. I love to relax at the village green on campus or go for hikes around Sydney off campus! I attached a picture from my most recent hike in the Blue Mountains! Two of my friends and I hiked to the Keduma River Crossing campground!! It was very cool, and we got to see cool views of many significant mountains and rock faces! Highly recommend!

The way we build has a huge impact on the environment, and I want to learn how we can create more sustainable solutions without sacrificing functionality.

With the increasing effects of environmental issues worldwide and coming from a country that has been facing energy and environmental challenges for years, I find this course particularly relevant and interesting. I hope that after completing this course, I will be able to analyze the environmental aspects of industries in my home country and hopefully contribute to any proposed solutions, which I consider my main inspiration for choosing this field of studies.

My name is Christopher and I am Environmental Engineering undergraduate student. I enrolled in this course as I am interested in learning how we can evolve our industries towards sustainability targets while maintaining their prosperity. I believe there is an important middle ground where both the wellbeing of our environment and industry can be maintained and further prosper and this course will hopefully provide some great insights into what strategies we as humans can implement to overcome the challenges of the present-day.

I am inspired by a desire to have a healthy planet, one where all species and ecosystems can thrive naturally and not endure impairments resulting from human industry.
