I have been reading a lot about Academic Parent Teacher Teams as a model of family engagement, especially for elementary schools. It seems to be an achievable model to implement. I am wondering if you are familiar with the model, and if you have any thoughts on it as a family engagement model?

For elementary schools.. is there a size of a school community that is "too big"? I'm finding a lot of schools consolidating to save money and creating these "mega-schools". Is there a recommendation on size to keep community engagement high?

Dr. Harris thanks for recognizing the realities around our underserved families in the U.S. and the connections they have or may not have with educators. How do you see DEI and Cultural Competency playing a role in effective family/community engagement?

Teachers and educators and both a highly-institutionalized workforce (usually strong stringent unions) and primarily work with a highly-institutionalized audience (students) required to be present (the only more highly institutionalized population than students is inmates). Most families and community partners are very different audiences than this. They have much greater freedom of choice with their time and engagement energy. How do you approach getting school staff to recognize this, and recognize that their “normal” approach will not likely be effective, maybe not even respectful?
