<title>Frida Kahlo is a Mexican artist, and her painting is a self-portrait. She stares directly at the viewer and holds a stiff pose. There is a chaotic feeling of many leaves behind her, dragonflies above her and moths atop her head. There is a monkey beside her shoulder and a black cat on her other side. A hummingbird hangs lifelessly from the thorny necklace. There is a claustrophobic and suffocating feeling as the thorns wrap around and cut into her neck and shoulders, making her bleed. The expression on her face looks calm but a little defeated, as though she is quietly enduring the pain. Kahlo often used painting to express her suffering, following a bus accident that killed several people and fractured Kahlo&#39;s ribs, both her legs and her collarbone. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frida_Kahlo) Kahlo suffered near-fatal injuries. An iron handrail impaled her through her pelvis, fracturing the pelvic bone and leaving her unable to bear children.</title>

<title>Flossy-P is an Australian illustration artist, and her painting is a portrait. She often draws and paints portraits with native Australian plants and animals. These works tend to be positive and show a strong connection and closeness between humans and animals. In this work the woman is centered and looks directly at the viewer, smiling. She seems calm and content, the small finches sit on her head and shoulders, as if they feel safe and protected with her. In the front is a bright flower fully open, and long stems in the background. The picture is full of life. Although the features of the face are extremely distorted, the smile and soft colours create a safe and content environment. </title>
