  • At the National Livestock Judging Contest during the American Royal Livestock Show in Kansas City, MO, 33 delegates from 18 different states met at the Hotel Baltimore to establish the Future Farmers of America.

  • Leslie Applegate was from NJ, and he was elected the 1st national President of FFA.

  • Henry Groseclose was elected executive secretary-treasurer.

  • The 1st national meeting of the NFA was held in 1935 at the Tuskegee Institute in Alabama.

  • The National Organization was founded right after the NFV (Virginia) was founded in 1927 by Prof. George Washington Owens. The reason this was established was because all the segregation was happening so this was made for African Americans.

  • NC´s NFA was originally formed at NC A&T during the 1926-1927 school year, with 26 chapters and 741 members.
