Women who work multiple jobs, are fighting to stay afloat financially, while also trying to raise a family often struggle to stand up for their rights. It is much easier for those with financial stability to use their free time to lobby for their rights.

Growing up in a suburban area outside of Camden, NJ and Philadelphia, PA, I have seen women in struggling cities fighting for their rights. With lack of resource and help for women struggling in these cities, while also not having time for fight for their rights, I think this issue is extremely relevant and more attention needs to be brought to such.

Classism can be an issue in Feminism. Women who do not have the social status or financial power are often left behind, with their view of being a women in todays world being left unheard.

Those who have the ability to try and break into male dominated fields, including those who have the ability to get higher education, have an easier time. Women who have not been able to get higher education struggle to break into the Feminist world as their perspective on feminism is very different.

Controversy of fighting for Feminism for lower class women

Women with privilege must fight for those who do not have such. Working to help women in poverty and those who are unable to get out of those situations without help, should be a large pillar in Feminism. Often people believe everyone must be out for themselves, which can be impossible for those who do not have the resources to do so.

Flora Tristan fought for women to be paid for work in the 1800's. She felt women who do not have financial independence or the ability to stand without a women, would never be "equal".

When you look into the most "prominent" and "famous" feminist in todays world, they are all highly educated and wealthy. Think about government officials, judges, doctors, who are feminists. They have all be able to reach the highest levels of education, leading them to be able to "lead" the feminist charge.

The issues of the belief of trickle-down feminism

Trickle-down feminism is the idea that women of the high class privileges will allow for the majority of women to feel those privileges as well. The new idea should be that feminist women should look for all women to equally feel these privileges, instead of expecting they will trickle-down to them. It needs to be more proactive and work must be done by women with privilege in order to let this happen.
