The first printing press was invented in 1450 by Johannes Gutenberg. Thanks to him, for a couple of decades, printing houses were opened throughout Europe.

Have undergone changes and "signs". Near the baker was now an image of the mill, and not far from the winemaker was a barrel.

The beginning of typography laid the foundation for a new social phenomenon - newspaper printing. And with the advent of newspapers in the 17th century, it came to mind to place advertisements in them. Initially, advertisements were meaningfully stingy. Only the fact that some citizen sells flour and sugar.

But the late Middle Ages are the birth of the first industry, these are manufactories and the development of trade. There was competition. And then the sellers realized that in order to attract a buyer, it is not enough just to tell him that you have a certain product. So in the ads appeared "bait": jokes, proverbs.

The turning point was the creation of a newspaper in the United States that was completely advertising-oriented. It was the year 1704 and the famous Boston News Letter. After a couple of decades, the Pennsylvania Newspaper appeared, which had a really large circulation and laid the foundation for a huge amount of print advertising.

The 19th century is characterized by the development of industrial society, which means that goods began to be produced industrially and they needed mass marketing. If in the Middle Ages there were not enough goods, then there was already an overabundance in the pursuit of eternal profit. At this moment, manufacturers were able to appreciate the power of advertising as a tool to stimulate sales of products.
