1. Structural proteins provide support in our bodies, structural proteins connect our connective tissues such as elastin & collagen.
2. Proteins look like building blocks of long chains called amino acids.
3. Some good sources of food that are considered protein are beans, dairy products and lean meats such as beef & lamb.
4. Protein is important for us because without it our bodies wouldn't function correctly and we wouldn't be able to do simple daily task with ease.
5. Polar functional groups can be classified as having polar properties depending on their organization & composition. Among the polar functions are carboxyl group found within amino acids.
6. Polarity of the amino acids affects the total structure of the protein. Polar amino acid residues have a tendency to be on the outside of a protein. Non polarity's side of the chain gets pushed into the interior of a protein allowing them to avoid water molecules changing the protein into a globular shape.

Proteins are large, complex molecules that play many critical roles in the body. Proteins are made up of hundreds or thousands of smaller units called amino acids, which are attached to one another in long chains.
6. Proteins have non-polar side chains their reaction in a watery environment is similar to that of oil in water. Polar side chains place themselves to the outside of the protein molecule which allows for their interact with water molecules by forming hydrogen bonds.
