My name is Preston Blanchard. You can reach my by e-mailing me at pblanchard@cherrycreekschools.org. As a person, I like cats, dogs, and, almost any animal. I also like Legos and fast Remote Control cars. I like supercars and Pokemon cards (as well as Pokemon). My favorite video game is Beach Buggy Racing. This is most of what I like as a person, but when it comes to what I like as an artist, everything changes. I am into drawing realistic 3-D models of imaginary places, and I also like to draw charachters like Stitch and R2-D2. I like to color really big and realistic coloring pages, and I like these things called diamond paintings. A diamond painting is just like a painting, except you don't use paint, you use beads and adheisive. Overall, I would say that I am a pretty open-minded person, but if I get in one of my moods, you better stay away.

My art is supposed to be a symbolization of who I am as a person. You can tell because all of my drawings relate to me in some way. I create my art using not only the finest (not really) colored pencils and supplies, but also I pour my heart into each in every one of my creations. The main purpose of my art is to distract me, but I also make art just for the fun of it. When I am done, I am no longer tense inside, and I have something to be proud of.

The rule of Thirds- Splits an image into 3 main verticle and 3 main horizontal areas.
The rule of Odds- An odd number of objects is usually much more appealing than an even amount. You can also group objects into odd number sections.
Space- Try to make sure that objects fit perfectly on your paper (if you really want). Instead of thinking about how you can fit all of your objects in your artwork, think about how you can have your objects fill in the space.
Leading Lines- The implied lines in your composition that lead the viewers eye around your work of art. In stiil life, most of the leading lines come from the outer edges of your objects. As artists, it is important that we are aware of where the leading lines in a piece are placing the viewers focus.
Touching Sides- Cropping your image so that two or more of those objects runoff or touch the side of your drawing.

I chose to draw these objects for two reasons. The first is because the were right by me. The second reason is because I thought they would give me a challenge (and they did). I made my still life by taking my three objects and placing them in a way that would make it easy to draw for me. I used paper and pencil to sketch it out, and then I colored it in with colored pencils. One thing that I learned from this process is that you have to take your time to make it look good. If I were going to do this again, I would take my time, and maybe draw something more simple. One other thing that I want to share about my piece is that this is my first try at making it.

I chose to make my artwork from the perspective of a cat (my cat). This is because my cat is very important to me, and I was interested it what he sees. My media reflects on my cat because my cat sees this every day (when he goes to eat). Something that I struggled with when making this piece of art was getting the shape of the bowl just right. One thing that I learned from this expierience is that sometimes you have to be flexible with what you have (especially with using play-doh because colors are a struggle).

First off, I'm sorry that this is a day late. Second, I drew a hiking trail with trees in the background and people walking. My positive space is the trees and my negative space is the hiking trail. I showed scale by drawing some objects further away than others, and making the further objects smaller, whilst making the closer objects bigger. I made my piece with paper and pencil (btw, this is a HORRIBLE drawing).

I drew a cat licking its paw. I used paper and pencil, and thought of coloring it in, but ran out of time, and also thought that maybe it would maybe lose the affect of how the fur looks (yes, I drew like 300 squiggles (I didn't count), and yes I got two hand cramps). I would like number 1 for my feedback this week (what a wierd statement). I chose to make this piece because I really like cats, and thought that it was a good challenge. My main goal of this drawing was to make it 3-D, and I think that I did pretty good. I would say that I achieved my goal because the whiskers are going in all sorts of directions, instead of the traditional 3 whiskers that are just sticking out like halfway. I also think that I added a 3-D effect by bolding the outline of the cat. I would like feedback on maybe better ways to draw fur. I would say that this is the best drawing of a cat that I have made though :)

I chose to base my charachter off of a lamp. The reason I chose this is because it was the first thing I saw, and I thought that it would be a good challenge. I chose to take the head of the lamp (the bulb and what protects it) and make it the head of the human. Then I took what connects the head of the lamp to the base of the lamp to make the arms and legs of the human. And I just kept the rest like the body and the hair like a regular human, to make it look somewhat natural.
