         <description><![CDATA[<div>Section/Pages: “And the Moon Be Still as Bright” - “The Musicians”<br>Members Present:&nbsp;<br>Colin Sullivan, Christian Shaw(wrote these notes)<br>Discussion Highlights:<br>- We begin to see the development of the characters as they try to become friendly with the Martians, look into themselves, and try to study the complexities of the Martians existence.&nbsp;<br><br>- The setting of Mars helps to contribute to the conflicts that arise during these chapters because it shows how the humans are not used to this setting. It impacts their actions and does not help their battle with the Martians.&nbsp;<br><br>- The conflicts arise during these chapters from the interactions between the characters and the setting. They help to heighten the tension between the humans and Martians.&nbsp;<br><br><br><br><br></div>]]></description>

It helped me to engage with the story and appreciate the different storylines.&nbsp;<br><br>- The conflicts show that the characters act differently towards each other. Some act more hostile and others start to avoid other characters.&nbsp;<br><br>- The story will continue to progress towards more conflicts between the two groups. I think eventually they will reach a solution but for now it will remain a hostile environment.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

It also helps to reflect on human’s relationship with other species and how it can impact the world.<br><br>- The relationships of the characters changed throughout the story. After all the conflicts, they were able to reconcile and try to live in harmony with the Martians after they see the beauty of their lifestyle.&nbsp;<br><br>- The characters change from the beginning of the book because they are able to appreciate the Martian lifestyle instead of being in conflict with them.&nbsp;<br><br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Section/Pages: Chapter “Rocket Summer” To “Third Expedition”<br>Members Present:&nbsp;<br>Colin Sullivan(wrote these notes), Christian Shaw&nbsp;<br>Discussion Highlights:<br>- The humans arrive on Mars on the rocket launched from Ohio.&nbsp;<br>- Ylla, a Martian woman, dreams of meeting people from earth. &nbsp;<br>- The rocket lands in April of 2000, the crew landed in what looks like a small American town.&nbsp;<br>- They realize it is a trap by the Martians.<br>- They try to escape but it is too late.<br>- All 16 crew members end up dying.<br>- It is revealed that it ended up being a Martian trap.&nbsp;<br><br>- From the opening chapters, the book will continue with the humans and Martians fighting over Mars.<br><br>- The Martians played the largest roles in these chapters. By killing the crew members, they established the war against the humans.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>
